What I am applying for?

I, Ram *******, is currently working as a developer in XXXXXX. I want to
pursue my M.Sc Computer Science with Software Engineering and Programming Languages as
specializations. I intend to do Masters to get a deeper understanding of these subjects. I strongly
believe that a Masters Degree will bolster my ability to contribute more to the industry.

How it all started for me?

'Computer' had been the most fascinating electronic device I had ever seen and used during
my childhood. I always found immense pleasure in producing some output out of the computer, the
output ranged from a simple paint picture to C programs . Ultimately after my school, I decided to do
my undergraduate engineering in computer science. Undergraduate courses provided me ability to
view computing from a different perspective. In college, I performed well in practical and theoretical
classes. During a couple of final examinations, I underperformed due to recurring medical illness. I did
my final year project in Network Security. The project was about creating anti-viral tool to detect
Special Camouflaging Worms(C-Worms). By the time I had completed my college, I was good at
programming, which eventually landed me at a job in XXXXXXXX, the leading IT
organization in India.

Why I apply for Masters?

The idea of doing Masters has its roots at my workplace. I am working as a developer. Two
years of my work experience has sufficiently provided opportunities to apply the basic programming
and software development concepts, I have learned from my undergraduate course. My job profile
includes analyzing customer's requirements, designing solutions, adding and modifying components in
the Warehouse Management system to accommodate customer's business needs . I have been
intrigued by the complexity of this ever growing system and the software engineering and reengineering
maneuvers employed by software designers and architects. Though I have learned basic
software engineering concepts in my undergraduate course, I am curious to learn more advanced
techniques and concepts employed in the software industry. I am particularly interested in Software
evolution, re-engineering and programming languages that support the software. This curiosity is now
driving me back to college.

Why Canada and why YYY?

I chose Canada for my higher education, because Canada provides high quality of education
that only very few other countries can provide. I want to learn from and work closely with a most
vibrant and innovative research group. I am very much sure, YYY will serve the
purpose more than many other university in Canada. The academic and research achievements of
professors here at Computer Science department speaks volumes about their expertise in the field. It
is a great privilege, accessible only for few elite pupil, to learn from the professors here.

How YYY's program fit my plan?

I find the MSc course work option to be a flexible program and it will fit my requirements well,
as it provides wide range of courses for me to choose from. Taking courses in software engineering
combined with few courses in programming languages would equip me with enough expertise to face
industrial challenges. I am also very much interested in the Distinguished Lecture Series offered here,
which will be bringing great minds around the world to the university campus.

What I plan to do with my Masters?

Having worked in IT for over two years, I already know what role would fit me in future. The
sole purpose of my Masters education is knowledge expansion in the field of software engineering.
Ultimately I will be heading back to my work place.

Why I think I should be given an admit?

Despite completing college, my learning curve is still on a raise. My organization has provided
ample space for me to develop both my business and technical knowledge. I have completed handful
of industrial certifications at XXXXX. Team work ability, time management, keen focus on final goal and
hard work to achieve the goal, are some of the virtues I picked up during work, which, I believe, is
essential for academics too. The work experience has provide me more discipline, now I am more
focused on my goals than ever before. It has provided me enough expertise to approach problems
more systematically. This has imparted enough confidence in me, I believe I can successfully complete
my Masters degree at YYY

I am confused. Are you replying to a series of short answer questions or is this a full SOP that you have broken down into short answer questions? - Admissions Advice Online

You do not want to do this. Just write it the way SOP's are suppose to be written. There are tons of good format instructions on this website. I have outlines the format several times as well. Writing this way is looked down upon. It is a writing crutch that should only be used to help you formulate your SOP. - Admissions Advice Online
