STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I have always cherished a career in mastering Petroleum Engineering. . I believe that education is an inherent part of a man's life. I have always enjoyed learning new things, getting involved in them, and more interestingly, examining their applications in our everyday lifes.

I was interested in science and mathematics right from the get go, furthermore the laboratory experiments. I conducted as a junior in college left an indelible mark upon my mind. My ambition to work in science field has further been encouraged by my consistent academic success. I was ranked in top ten (in a class of 200) in my high school with 83.70% marks. Chemistry being field of my interest, I enrolled for Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering at SRM University .During my engineering course I was introduced to Thermodynamics,Physical Chemistry, Petro- chemical Technology, Petroleum Refining Technology,Energy Technology and Management ,these subjects pro- founded my interest on petrol refining procedures. And also these are the subjects subjects made me realize that improving efficiency and producing oil in more environmentally friendly ways could save the environment while meeting energy demands.

The black petroleum continues to hold me fascinated and spellbound with its infinite attractions Since then the articles I read about Petroleum growth and how the world tries to find viable alternative sources of energy which reduce harmful emissions, the amount of energy being consumed continues to rise. At present and for the foreseeable future, oil remains the most viable energy solution. As a result the future supply of energy and by extension the preservation of the environment relies on petroleum engineers increases my interest. It aided my decision to specialize in Chemical Engineering especially in Petroleum Engineering. . In order to understand petroleum better, I consider it necessary to travel to the other side of the Pacific Ocean to improve my knowledge and expertise in petroleum research. I have always adopted and will adopt a rigorous approach in order to attain an in-depth understanding of the subjects at hand.

Isn't it just fascinating to extracting Petroleum from surface of oceans and earth? Well, I am really fascinated about it.The process of exploring, extraction and refining of Petrol, and the formation of different gaseous and liquefied products from manufacturing process have developed over the years, and they play a major role in the day to day life. There are loads of resources which are yet to be found and in its own physical dimension it changes the world, a change which I would love to be part of. Starting from finding the resources and drilling, distilling other crude products from the crude petrol and transporting them, and more importantly learning about all these things would not be an easy task, but I Sincerely believe that,If I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn't have it in the beginning. This attitude helped me to get a job at TATA-CONSULTANCY SERVICES,one of the world's famous IT company. For the fact,I have nothing to do with my bachelor degree with Chemical Engineering in IT profession, But it's a very challenging profession for me,which I excelled in the computer languages C,C++,JAVA ,and also helped me various activities of an industry and the importance of optimization of the process for the maximize returns.I have always adopted and will adopt a rigorous approach in order to attain an in-depth understanding of the subjects at hand.

Among the various alternative energy sources I find great interest in fuel cells . With dwindling petroleum reserves and growing concerns regarding pollution, fuel cells could be the answer to solve our energy problems. With growing interest in the industry regarding the development of fuel cells for automobiles and power generation, I believe there is tremendous scope in this field.I even did my project on "Manufacture of Hydrazine as a fuel cell". And also I did another short training for a period of two weeks in Chennai petroleum Corporations Limited, There I was under a constant training for manufacture of petroleum through many ways and the intermediate products during the manufacture. I was simply astounded to see the giant distillation towers and extractors and other reactors. I was also taken to the plant control division where I was shown how the entire plant was automated and how the entire process could be monitored using the computers. This lead me to learn the basics of the computer languages. It was just awesome that an entire plant was being controlled by just a few operators monitoring the various critical parameters at their terminals. That made me realize the

importance of obtaining a graduate degree in order to get me closer to where I have always aspired to be. I believe my undergraduate education and training have equipped me intellectually and academically to pursue high quality graduate studies and research.

I have no doubt that the University of XXX is 'the' appropriate one for me, since it provides a unique mix of educational advantages. It is one of the most dynamic universities providing personal attention and extensive academic resources along with superior education in the field of Chemical Engineering. Here, I will receive an education that gives me both, the technical skills and the intellectual discipline to become a leader in the industry. This will ultimately help me to provide vital contributions to society and work in a way to expedite the advancement and betterment of humanity as a whole.

I have an overall CGPA of 70% during my Engineering. However, I am of the opinion that theoretical work alone is of little use unless it is accompanied by practical knowledge. I believe that I would be a suitable applicant for masters in the university since I've always been inclined towards practical tasks and the everlasting quest to learn more. Education should be a medium for the unfolding of one's inborn faculties, enabling one's to use mind, eyes, ears, and hands, as they should be used. This is the kind of education I would want, and one that I know your University will equip me with. It would be a great pleasure and honor for me if I were given a chance to ensue my graduate studies at your highly esteemed University and if I were given an opportunity to teach or do research work I would not fall short of your expectations. I hope that you will find in me a deserving and creditable student for your renowned University."

. I believe that education is an inherent part of a man's life.

When you say "that education" it refers to petroleum engineering. So why do you say it's (petroleum engineering) an inherent part of a man's life? I'm a bit puzzled as for me it sounds like a specialized field and I cannot figure out how it's going to be an inherent part of my life. Is it a typo or you really mean to express some good idea? If so, you better be a little more descriptive about that otherwise the reader would not get it right.
