Hello friends, I am applying for the Fashion Management program at Domus Academy and need help with my motivation letter. The application didn't specify how long it should be so I just typed all the important facts without being too wordy. I will appreciate any feedback that you have that will help me improve my letter. Thanks in advance!
I am truly honored to apply for the master's degree in Fashion Management at Domus Academy. For as long as I could remember fashion has always been a big part of my life. Fashion is something that I am very passionate about and I enjoy every aspect that it has to offer. I remember as an adolescent bedazzling my Barbie's clothing, sketching my own designs on my composition book and putting on mock fashion shows with my siblings. At the age of 13 I enrolled in the Barbizon School of modeling which first gave me a hands on glimpse into the intriguing world of Fashion. Shortly after graduating from high school I began working as a cashier at Jcpenney's and after a year of employment I realized that I was not living up my full potential and wanted more for myself.
Because of the love for fashion, it was obvious that I decided to enroll in a bachelor's of arts program at Clark Atlanta University with fashion design and merchandising as my concentration. Key classes that I've taken were: Principles of the fashion industry, textiles, trend forecasting, retail management, principles' of marketing, fashion buying and planning and Fashion Show Production. In the spring of 2010 I served as the assistant director and model for the Clark Atlanta University fashion show that's held annually by the Fashion Department. In the fall of 2010 I was accepted into American Intercontinental University's study abroad program in London England. This experience was life changing and it really expand my horizons and completely changed my outlook on fashion. During my Matriculation at American Intercontinental University I served as a stylist for the fall 2010 fashion show. After hard work and dedication I received my bachelor's degree in fashion design and merchandising from Clark Atlanta University in the spring 2011. Although I've gained a profusion amount of information on fashion, I still feel the need to obtain knowledge on the business and managerial aspect of fashion.
I've came across the prestigious master's degree in Fashion Management program that Domus Academy offers from the Study Abroad advisor at my former university. After thoroughly researching the Fashion Management program and learning that Domus Academy is one of the world's most premier postgraduate school, I know that this program is right for me. The students enrolled in Fashion program have been placed with world renowned fashion brands such as Versace, Fendi, Red Valentino, Gianmarco Lorenzi and Roberto Cavalli. Some of the school notable alumni includes Gianmarco Cavagnino, Anna Dello Russo and Taeke Halma , all who have made a name from themselves in the fashion and architectural industry.
While enrolled in the Fashion Management program, I hope to gain knowledge in employing analytical tools and theories, analyze how luxury brands balance accessibility and exclusivity and develop my own conceptual framework for defining luxury and its implications for branding management. I will be able to successfully develop core managerial competencies through strategic analysis and effective communication. In addition, I will be able to engage in a deep exploration of consumer behavior and user experience. My ultimate goal upon graduating from the Fashion Management is to become a branding manager for a high end retailer such as Jimmy Choo, Chanel, and Alexander McQueen. By admiring the lineage of the iconic brands, a career in Fashion Management will be rewarding. Utilizing the skills that I have learned during my collegiate years as an undergraduate student, I truly believe that at Domus Academy I can reach my dream career as a Fashion Branding Management. The city of Milan has a long history within fashion, clothing, and textile industries, which makes it the main reason why it's widely regarded as the number one fashion capital of the world. Being in Milan will help me embrace new concepts and perceptions that would be beneficial in the long run and would over all help me be a better person. I am dedicated into striving for excellence and I look forward to embarking on this next phase of my academic achievements.
