Clay P. Bedford said, "You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives." I'm convinced, teaching is not a job- it is a calling. I am also convinced in investing in my own abilities, and I see a XXX as the best investment that will allow me to develop the knowledge, ability and personal skills required in fulfilling my ambition: to assist learners receive best suitable learning environment, to contribute to the community by doing socially useful job and to achieve excellence in education and management.
My education and career has started in traditional art and animation. However, my love for technology directed me into new opportunities of digital art. After completing an intensive pilot program at XXX, and being exposed to number of experimental, new and different classroom environments, I developed a passion for teaching. Graduating with honors, I was offered to teach an enthusiastic group of 14 year old students during their summer camp at the Institute. Teaching my first course established me as an educator. It had awakened something in me that I didn't believe it existed. I learned then, as I still believe now, teaching is not only transferring the knowledge to learners, but it also involves compassion and understanding of needs and goals of each individual student.
Following the initial success I was offered to teach in XXX XXX Programs. Courses I taught complemented my professional background and I was continuing to grow in both directions, as an artist and educator as well. XXX XXX department of my institution offered many workshops on curriculum tools, course goals defining, writing course outlines, learning outcomes and tasks. Further workshops taught us assignment and project marking and classroom performance. However, it was XXX XXX Program that sparked my interest for adult education in particular. I become fascinated with the brain and neurological aspect of learning, and implementing classes with strategies that will provoke interest, motivation and learning and thus managing student retention.
After few years of dedicated teaching I was offered a position of the Program head for XXX XXX Program. The new role presented me with unique perspective of a leader, and exposure not only to my students but instructors as well. My work at XXX and particularly Program Head duty transformed my predominantly artistic focus to education and leadership. My goal became excellence in teaching and educational management, assisting both students and instructors.
XXX XXX program offers the right mix of research, theoretical and practical learning which would suit my learning style. The emphasis on cross-professional diversity is the significant component and I'm excited about sharing student space with the rest of enthusiastic educators. I'm certain my professional and personal experiences will contribute to the rich and diverse body of your program which would, in turn, increase my growth- both personally and professionally.
