"If we can solve energy crisis we can solve anything" are the words which motivated my career as an engineer.
Hailed from the city of large coast line, Visakhapatnam which has been consistently facing problems of beach erosion and structural damage at shore, made me think about the issue of the huge potential of wave energy that can be used in a constructive way. So with my former professor and my Project Guide Mr.Satya Murthy, a scientist in Naval Science and Tech Lab, had proposed a linear wave generator based on Wave Dragon, wave topping over floating structure and modifications in Point Absorbers wave energy convertor. The tubular Stator floats above the sea and the curve shaped output draft we implemented repels the wave, reducing up to 20% of the wave energy which reaches the coast. The water displaces the stators tubular pistons, this motion produces change in flux and Emf is produced. This proposal was put for further review as there were some inaccuracies in the design parameters and hydro dynamics of the structure, This led me on a quest to do my Master Degree in Renewable Energy sources and found that University of Oldenburg offers a Post Graduate Program in the subject, and with the international exposure and expertise of the faculty, I believe I can master the subject and expect to find a number of Energy solutions which is imminent in the near future. I owe to continue my research and love to teach on this subject after my graduation.
I JakkamGirish born in Visakhapatnam, India, my interest in Mathematics and Science led me to take up a career in Engineering, During school days I have won a lot of appreciation for my science models displayed at 95th All India National Science Congress and my Math talent proved in talent search examinations, cultural activates were a part of my schooling days. Being a member in The Bharath Scouts and Guides, I was involved as Volunteer throughout India, which included participating in the 11th All India National Jamboree where I learnt First aid, Disaster Management and camping skills. I was awarded a prestigious "Rajyapuraskar Award" for involving in 7 years of volunteer service as a member in the Scouts and Guides which is recognized internationally. I have also written "RashtraBhasha "to prove my skills in our National Language Hindi.
I graduated as Electrical Engineer with 8.32 CGPA from Andhra University, have done a internship at HPCL a oil company, where we studied maintenance and gas power generation using by products in refinery industry, we produced a paper in the university on the adverse effects and caused by Conventional based power generation and advantages of using Renewable Sources, we produced models of Air Borne Wind Turbines and also tried improvising extensions to the already existing ground based conventional wind Turbines, made a technical feasibility and financial report on Magenn Air Rotor systems(MARS), Diffused Augmented Wind Turbine (DAWT), we even studied on models like KTEGEN, TWIND Technology and LTAWIND power. Though I could not find a job in Renewable Energy field which was of my primary interest I started working as an Electrical Engineer in Gangavaram port since July 2013, where my first project was conversion of 100ton Mobile cranes which runs on diesel engine to a grid connected crane using 6.6 KV, thus reducing the CO2 gas in work area, as a CSR policy of company we successfully installed 600 solar panels and LED lights in the Dibbapalem Village adjacent to the port and also working on installing a 25 MW solar plant with Grid support conditioner system.
If given a chance to study in the university, I will make myself best use of the available resources and keep testing myself to the boundaries to excel in the renewable energy field producing results which would help for rural development in many countries.
