could you please tell me if it is correctly written and if written is a good manner or I'm doing something wrong/something is missing?
Statement of Purpose
My Interests, Life Experiences and personal qualities
Physical Olympics
I started being interested in Physics from the third class of High School, when I took part for the first time with Physics Olympiad. My participation was very successful, because even if I was only in the third class and had studied only Mechanics, I was able to be admitted to the national final. To successfully solve most of the problems I used what, I learned later at university, was called dimensional analysis and euristic methods. I used those methods who I had never studied because they seemed to me the only possible ways to solve problems about fields of Physics I hadn't studied yet. This is an example of:
- My mathematical/logical method of thinking, that helped me a lot in studying Physics
- My lack of "fear" about tackling problems about unstudied topics
I am also a very determined person. My teacher told me about International Olympiads in Math and Physics when I was in the first class of High school, I liked that idea a lot, and decided that I will be able to participate to that event before leaving High school. I was sure I had enough abilities to achieve that result and in fact I was able to finally be chosen to be part of the Italian IPhO team. This episode reveals that I am also a little ambitious, but not very much I would say.
Teaching: private lessons
While I was studying at university I started to give private lessons of Math and Physics to High School students. It was not an idea of mine, because I thought that I needed at least a "Laurea Triennale" (equivalent to Bachelor Degree) to have the "right" to teach. Some friends of my family needed private lessons to pass the final High School examination and asked me if I could teach them. They told me they asked me because they thought that I was the best person that could teach those subjects in my small town. After those lessons, I really liked the idea of teaching and so I started to give lessons as a part time work. Starting from my third year of university I started giving lessons also to University first-year students.
Mathematical Olympiad Preparations and class lessons
Starting from my second year of university I started to cooperate with the Italian Mathematical Olympiad committee, giving ideas for problems to be put in the text of the organized mathematical competitions. I started giving ideas for the most easy competitions, and in the following years I went beyond to the more difficult ones.
Starting from my third year of university I was also asked to give some Mathematical lessons to High School student to prepare them to the second round of the Italian Mathematical Olympiads (the local one, that chooses the ones that are admitted to the national final). Since that time I gave lessons for a total length of about 25 hours.
Future Goals
My future goals are to take a PhD in Theoretical Physics in one the fields I am interested in. After that I would like to start some research work about the same topic and become an University Professor, because as I said I like teaching. I would also like to do some teaching work while I am studying for my PhD to undergraduate students.
Study and Research
I'm currently studying Theoretical Physics and my purpose is to continue studying it at PhD level and then starting a research work.
Fields of Study
In order of preference:
1) Field Theory: Standard Model and Physics beyond SM. Neutrino Physics. Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking and Higgs Boson Physics.
2) Field Theory and Gravitation: Gravitational Waves, Graviton, Gravitation and Quantum Theory
3) Elementary Particles Phenomenology, Hierarchy Problem
4) Cosmology (theoretical approach), General Relativity
5) Mathematical Physics
