Hi !! I would like to apply for a PhD in Mechanical engineering. I appreciate your help with my SoP

My decision to pursue graduate studies at Wichita State University is supported by my wish to be part of an excellent academic institution. WSU offers me research groups in Materials Science and Engineering with good reputation, and I offer my knowledge, creativity, enthusiasm and all my talents for research in science topics.
As student of Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia's highest rated university, it has been my great fortune to work among a team of engineering teachers to make undergraduate research projects in Kevlar/matrix composites, airspace prototypes, and graduate research projects about multilayer thermoplastic composites. In March of 2008, I had an acknowledgement of my BSc project to be presented at congress of electro-mechanical engineering in Colombia. Also, I have been interested about science, engineering and manufacturing of materials, dynamic systems, energy conversion systems, mechanical design, in general most of all areas of Mechanical Engineering. Hence my desire to pursue PhD studies in Mechanical engineering with polymeric composite materials as my major to the advance of knowledge.
During my Engineering studies I've strived for academic excellence and scientific spirit. I had a period where I decided to interact in other fields like electronic engineering (simultaneously with mechanical engineering), and I went to work as an internship student in a telecommunications company managing mobile phone projects. These experiences helped me to open my mind and to apply it for processing composite materials developing DAQ and control systems.
After those studies, now I can say that I am very fond of polymeric composite structures. Is fascinating how one can achieve properties that should not exist in pure materials. For example, when wind generators blades are designed with composites, the blades can behave as variable geometry enhanced the aerodynamic profiles. Other example is the amours for vehicles. Kevlar fibers can have five times more resistance than steel with a fraction of the weight. So, the study of the behavior of these structures is a big challenge that I would like to confront.

Finally, I would like you to consider me to be part of your research group in order to learn and to explore in the immense field of the engineering to become a scientific that will be competitive in any country. This is the reason because I am always interested about learning and continuing build stronger my excellent development.
