Hello Everyone, I will be very grateful if anyone can please look at my letter and provide his/her valuable opinion.
I am applying for Erasmus Mundus Master's Program of "Vision, Image and Robotics" with much interest and enthusiasm. Motivation is the driving force for any individual and the desire to attain your lifelong dream stimulates like no other thing can. Not every school boy dreams of becoming an engineer but I did. By the time I was 11, I had developed keen interest with intelligent systems. Even today the exquisiteness of alliance between a machine and its clever electronics and their ability to understand instructions fascinates me immensely. In particular I yearn to understand and learn more about Real time image and signal processing technologies and autonomous robots. My ambition in life is to become an expert researcher in the field of robotics to join academia to make robotics a prominent field in my country. I am sure that being trained in a graduate program of good quality such as VIBOT with plenty of research opportunities will allow me to achieve my ultimate dream.
During my undergraduate studies, I developed and designed various projects related to Robotics. I developed a basic Line Following Robot as my 3rd semester project, stepping up from it I designed "An Automatic Wheel chair" for physically challenged. Continuing with my growing obsession with Robotics I proposed a "wireless bomb detecting robot" to the government of Pakistan. It was approved for funding by the National Grassroots ICT Research and Development funding Program. I and my team successfully designed and developed this Robot to diffuse bombs; and be operable from anywhere in the world using internet; as our final year project and thesis.
I am a people person, I like making friends and working in groups. I have completed many individual and group projects and have organized various events in my university. Personally I am very optimistic and curious man. I believe if you have the right motives and you work hard for them you can achieve anything in life. I have strived hard and have succeeded in most of my objectives in life. I have always been at the sharp end of the class throughout my academic career. I have organized many curricular and extra-curricular activities in the institute. In order to help people of my village in their troubled times during Floods of 2012 I served as a volunteer and formed a team to help flood victims in my birth region of Kashmore Sindh to provide relief to the homeless and hungry. During this time I had the privilege to work with many European Non-Government Organizations and learn a lot about Britain and Spain from them.
As I am about to complete my Bachelors of Electronics Engineering from NED University, Pakistan, I plan to learn and explore the world of robotics further. Fortunately over the course of 4 years (8 Semesters) of my undergraduate studies I have taken relevant courses on Automation and Robotics, Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic, Digital Signal Processing and Embedded system design which are prerequisites of the courses which are part of your curriculum. Additionally I have spent considerable amount of time learning supporting tools like MATLAB and LABVIEW to help simulate and program new ideas. I believe the advanced courses and research thesis will help me develop my knowledge and improve my skills exceptionally.
During my search for an appropriate master's program, I found VIBOT to be the most suitable I can apply for. Since it covers two of my most preferred domains of electronics i.e. Robotics and Real time Signal Processing. Furthermore it will allow me to share my Sindhi culture and learn about French, Spanish and Scottish cultures and customs first hand. It will also provide me with the opportunity to join and study in Institutes like University of Burgundy, Heriot-Watt University and University of Girona; which are a symbol of excellence and quality all around the world.
As a young aspirant from a developing country, I am very determined and captivated to specialize in Real time signal Processing and Robotics. I strongly believe that your program VIBOT will provide me with the right knowledge, exposure and ability to become an expert researcher for industry and academia in my country with an open possibility to pursue a doctorate degree in robotics as well. It will help me to make a significant change within my home institutions to make robotics an evolving and rapidly developing field in Pakistan.
