I am planning to apply for MS in Telecommunication for Fall 2014. Below is my SOP. Request your review.

My education and professional experience upto this point of my life is the strongest testament to my decision to pursue a Masters in Telecommunication Programme.

As Engineering presented an array of opportunities, I decided to pursue my Bachelors in Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology, MESRA,in India. At BIT, I elected to study Electronic and Communication at the time because I was fascinated with the extent of technology - the ability to bridge physical distance.

During my first two years, I selected subjects such as Electronics and Mathematics, after which I started focusing more on communication electives such as Fiber Optics Communication Systems, Data Communications and Computer Networks. I underwent an Industrial visit at BSNL in 2007, a public sector company which is the largest provider of fixed telephony in India. There I was exposed to the various innovations in telecommunication systems ever since the advent of telephones. To practically apply my theoretical knowledge, I also worked on a project along with a fellow student titled "Application of GPS (Global Positioning System) in Wireless Communication for tracking and monitoring Vehicles. I was lauded for my technical and communication capabilities, especially during project presentation. With inkling for communication, I decided to apply for a summer internship with Avaya Global during campus placements. During the summer internship I gained good exposure to a series of Avaya products such as Avaya S8300, S8700 Servers and Avaya G450, G650 Voice Gateways. My internship involved understanding how communication as a Technology especially VoIP works and its penetration in the education sector. Owing to my extraordinary performance during the internship I was immediately offered a full time job opportunity, which I eventually accepted.

At Avaya Global ( now known as AGC Networks Ltd.) , I was a part of the Services Team and gained solid hands on experience on Avaya Servers and Gateways, Polycom Video Conferencing devices and Extreme Networks switches and Routers. While working on these Technologies my thirst for knowledge increased and I decided to learn Cisco Technology. Since Avaya, did not deal with Cisco, I moved to HCL Technologies Ltd, where I am currently working. In HCL Technologies I developed hands on experience on Cisco Unified Call Manager Server, Cisco Call Manager Express Servers, Cisco Unity Connection Voicemail Servers, Cisco Voice Gateways and CUBE devices. I learned about protocols like SIP, H.323, MGCP, CDP, STP etc. During my professional tenure at HCL, I successfully completed certifications such as CCNA, CCNA Voice, CVoice, and CIPT1. As I wanted to expand my knowledge in this field I decided to pursue for higher studies.

As the field of Networks and Telecommunication is making significant progress, we are re-defining the notion of being connected to each other. I believe that Telecommunication is still in an infant stage, and major expansion and development is in the pipeline. These expansions will shape and define how we lead our lives and how we interact with each other. In order to ensure that I am a part of these major advancements, and can overcome the challenges of TOMORROW in Routing, Switching, IP Telephony, Unified Communications and Networking, I seek to acquire the knowledge TODAY. Thus I am planning to pursue my Masters degree in Networks and Telecommunication.

I am drawn to XXXX University as it provides the perfect combination of courses and professors. It also provides rich hands on experience and has established the reputation for providing a robust professional network infrastructure for its students. I am excited about taking classes in XXX and XXXX. Moreover, I am excited about meeting with and exchanging in knowledge sessions with a diversity of students as we come together to each pursue our professional dreams.

After completing my Master's degree I will look for job prospects in the rapidly developing networks and telecommunication Industry. I want to work in areas like network design and implementation, wherein I am given the opportunity and responsibility to work an effective technical solution which is in line with the requirements and expectations of various organizations.

In order to embark on this journey, I have been developing the prerequisite skills that will ensure my ultimate success in a graduate program. Starting from my school days, I have always held a stellar academic record. Other than my academics, I have actively participated in various extracurricular activities, which I believe has intensified my extroverted nature and enabled me to meet people from diverse backgrounds. I have participated in various elocution competitions, debate competitions, quizzes winning various honors. As a member in the national cadet corps, a paramilitary training corp for students, I have acquired strong time management and organizations skills. Taking an active interest in sports, I play basketball and I see this as a great icebreaker and stress reliever. As a member of the Dramatic Society in college, I have had the opportunity to perfect on my team building skills as well as communication capabilities.

I have strong analytical skills and have a solid background in the field of Telecommunication. I am self-motivated and have the required learning agility. I have always been inquisitive and thirsty for knowledge and hence I look to <Univ Name > to provide me an opportunity for pursuing MS in <Name of the Prog>.

I am prepared to take on the next challenging phase of my life. This is a very exciting time to be working in the communications industry, as technology is evolving quickly and new applications are being devised constantly. If I can work at the cutting edge of this industry, I know that I will have a career that is enriching, meaningful, and rewarding in the long term.

I await your response and thank you for your time.

Every consecutive line is starting from 'I'. You could try and change it.

Seems very comprehensive. But I think you can improve a bit more in two ways:
1.By mentioning the names of a few faculty members who you think can help you.
2.Elaborating further on what you did during your internships. It kinda lacks the description of how these experiences led to your growth.

Hope these help
