Hey guys, so I want to transfer into UT Austin's computer science program in spring 2015 and I was wondering if you guys could read my statement of purpose essay and tell me what you guys think:

When I was a little boy, I spent a lot of time on the computer, and was curious about how they worked. My father noticed my keen interest and introduced me to the C programming language (A programming language is used by humans to give instructions to a computer; C is one example of a programming language) in 8th grade. Ever since I wrote my first "hello world" program in C, I have been fascinated by how the power of a computer can be utilized via programming languages. Thus, I taught myself the C and C++ programming languages. I put my programming knowledge to practical use by participating in a First Tech Challenge robotics team in high school, doing programming projects, and doing internships at Intel and Hewlett-Packard. I wanted to further my knowledge of programming, so I went to Oregon State University to study Computer Science. Oregon State is a decent school, but its computer science program did not provide what I was looking for. I want to complete my Bachelors degree under a Computer Science program which provides a challenging curriculum, amazing faculty, and exciting opportunities for work experience and undergraduate research, and I am convinced that there is no better place to do this than the University of Texas at Austin.

I would like to go to the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) because of its stellar education, and research opportunities. I am especially interested in the Turing Scholars Honors Program since it offers a challenging education and close interaction with faculty. I am interested in doing undergraduate research in data mining or computational biology. I read about these subjects on my own time but unlike UT Austin, my current University does not have many good research opportunities in these areas. I Interacted with UT students online and learned that UT Austin has many talented professors doing research in data mining, such as Dr. Inderjit Dhillon and Dr. Joydeep Ghosh. In addition, I have heard that there is a new upcoming center for data science headed by Dr. Pradeep Ravikumar, and this would be a perfect place for me to do research. I am also interested in working at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), which UT Austin is affiliated with. Researchers at TACC have done amazing things in computational biology (such as analyzing the largest animal proteomics dataset) and high performance computing. I feel that the research opportunities at UT Austin are definitely aligned to my interests.

My current university does not have many relations with good, well-known technology companies. This is a major downside for me, since I want to work at one of these companies because they offer the best opportunities for learning and career development. I heard that the College of Natural Science's career fair hosts hundreds of very popular employers for Computer Science majors, which is definitely appealing to me. I feel that I can expand my professional network much better at UT Austin than I can at Oregon State.

I think I would fit in perfectly at the competitive Computer Science program at UT austin. If accepted, I am confident that I will excel at UT Austin. It seemed apparent to me that Computer Science was the field that I was best suited for, as I was always interested in computers from a young age, and I had my father to look up to. I have always been passionate about Computer Science ever since I wrote my first line of code, and I would be honored to be part of one of the best Computer Science programs in the nation. I know that I need to prove my worth instead of just discussing it, so if I am accepted into Computer Science at UT austin, I will put in my best effort and have a positive impact on the community. I will exemplify excellence, diligence, and perseverance, and be a testament to how UT Austin students are among the brightest in the nation. Through my coursework and grades, I have proven that I am a bright learner who takes initiative and performs well in the classroom. Through my internships at Intel, Hewlett-Packard, and my high school robotics experience, I have proven that I have the capacity to apply what I learn to solve problems in real world situations. However, l desire to attend a University which can give me the opportunities. The resources, research opportunities, professional networking, and faculty that UT Austin provides leaves no doubt in my mind that it is the best place for me to continue my education. I know that if I want to reach my full potential and start to change the world, there is no better place than UT Austin.
