Undergraduate / Undergraduate Statment of purpose for SCAD; Photography [2]

I'm not a very good writer and I'm not good about talking about my self, especially when I have to write it down. So if anybody can help that would be great!.

The statment of purpose is supposed to be approximately 500 words and should give an overview of the applicant's academic and personal experience, describing peperation for and commitment to further study at SCAD, as well as educational and professional goals and aspirations.

I have chosen Photography as my major because I enjoy being able to capture a moment forever in a photograph. It's something special to be able to look into a picture and feel something from the picture itself. The pictures that I enjoy the most are the ones that I capture of people; of families interacting and sharing moments together. I enjoy being able to capture that one precious moment when something special happens. I want to show people another way to view the world, and to view people.

I also in joy scenic pictures of places I've been or places that are important to other people and bringing something back for them to enjoy. Whenever I'm working in photography and look at some of my finished work I feel like I turn into a little kid and get all giddy over it because I surprise my self every time, when I have to show my work I always end up blushing because I've never had any training before, and when they like it I still blush its just has smile going along with it or if they give me pointers or say that I need to change this or that I listen so I know what to do next time. I never get discouraged because I love it too much to stop.

I am currently working on getting my certificate in the Film/Video program at Central Piedmont Community College before I graduate high school.

The part of my education that I want to receive from SCAD, I would like to sharpen my skills as a photographer, gain the knowledge that I need to start my career, and to work in the fields that I am interested in. I see college as another stepping-stone that I need to reach in order to go out on my own, and to work on the same level with other professionals in order to better myself and improve my job skills. I would like to get to a point where I can do some work for companies like Discovery and National Geographic, and also doing set photography for movies and television.

I would like to get my Masters so I can teach at one point. People tell me I have a great ability to teach in everything I know, I've had teacher have me teach other students before.

Any help with this is much needed and appreciated, I'm not the best person for writing essays.

An image can hold the past, it can capture the good times and the bad, and it can unveil both the ugly and the beautiful. Photographs reveal all this. In my mind's eye I see images daily that I long to capture.

Photography I am interested in is documentary, scenic, people and families as they interact, set photography. I'm not a photographer that likes to stay in a studio, I like traveling and being out side. I don't like fake, I like pulling the emotions out of people so you have a true feeling of who they are and what they do.

I also have a love for production as I have for photography; it is both one in the same. In production as photography most people only see the finished work, not many people get to see what goes on behind the scenes. It is something very special in its self. It captivates me to production

In production there are so many different places I would like to work, I believe going to SCAD will help me figure out what part to be apart of.

I like working in pre-production and figuring everything out, production running camera, or being a part of the live production team.

Currently I'm working on finishing up on a certificate program started in my sophomore year of high school for Film/Video at Central Piedmont Community College. Along with this I have worked with a photographer for the past year and worked with a three different production companies, learning real life experience.

I have worked with a photographer on magazine shoots, commercial shoots for websites, weddings, and families. I have also had my own commercial shoot for a company's web site. Along with a photographer, I have worked with productions companies working on such sets for; short films, promo videos, and commercials. I have also worked with a production company that works for live shows every weekend.

I would like to receive my undergraduate from SCAD in photography and film/television. I expect to be able to sharpen my skills not only in photography and production, also with presenting my self with future clients and employers. Eventually I want to be able to teach, I have always been teaching people. I feel I have a gift of teaching; I've even had a few teachers have me teach their students.

Eventually I would like to work with such companies as National Geographic, Discovery, and History channel. More then those companies I would like to have my own company and work freelance.
