Writing Feedback / CBEST "As you get older, it is harder to have heroes, but it is sort of necessary." [NEW]

Hi everyone,

Please help! Please help! I need help with the grammar and the conclusion. Any suggestion are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Topic essay: Ernest Hemingway once commented, "As you get older, it is harder to have heroes, but it is sort of necessary."

I agree with Hemingway as one get older it is difficult to find hero. An older person with experience in life tend to be objective about life and the believe of hero decrease. On the other hand, a younger person need to have a hero because hero can show direction and provide example lead to those whose try.

Thus, I believe men and women of all age need hero. As a woman, I find that hero are especially important because our role is constantly redefined. Women today is not only need to have a successful career and to maintain resourceful to raising a family. For example, my parents is my heroes. As a new immigrant to these country with four children under the age of ten. My parents started a new life. Since I was a child both of my parents encouraged education is the key to success in life. All three of my sibling and including myself have had graduated from college with a good paying job.

The older I get the more I see hero is very important because they are the one provide inspiration for me to go on with the hard reality.

Undergraduate / Personal experience and interests in relationship to counseling - Admission [NEW]

Please help my essay is due...Friday....please give me some feedback...thank you in advance :o)

Admission essay for Counseling. Topic: Personal experience and interests in relationship to counseling....

Teaching and helping others has been my passion since I was a young adult it has allows me to self-express while help others to improve their live. It has taught me the important of hard work, self-discipline, and dedication. To pursue as a career in the field of education has been my goal. What interested me to be counseling is my increasing desire to help students through the process of making the right decisions that enable them to self-actualize, to become the best at what they truly want to do, and to handle the setbacks along the way. Knowing that I can make a positive impact on a life is rewarding to me.

I speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Chiu Chow and deeply appreciate American celebration of diversity. I am especially drawn to student of ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds and the way that they serve to enrich our cultural heritage. I am convinced that at a stage in my life where I am especially receptive to learn the opportunities and well poised to fully appreciate the opportunity to return to school. A counselor never knows exactly what the day will include, much like my current position as a Career Development Program Specialist. I am working with low incomes family who's receiving government aid. My job is to help clients to better themselves by get employment so they can be sufficient and get off aid. The responsibilities of the profession involve, but are not limited to, counseling, assessment, behavioral intervention, and classroom observation. My responsibilities are to aid adult in job search and counsel them in their relations with peers and future employer, serve as a responsible role model, and to work closely with others. My day is usually filled with activities such as group, individual and crisis counseling, conflict resolution, behavioral observation. I have discovered that students are quite comfortable with me and open up to me with their issues - and this seems to occur quite naturally. I consider it an honor and a sacred trust. I have learned that I have the ability to calm students and open them up to greater discovery of their options, sitting quietly with them and listening, then asking thought provoking questions that inspire them to greater levels of examination, prioritizing and planning. I see the central key as helping students is to connect to their heart. I tell my students: "when you connect with your heart you find the genius inside of you."

From this experience I know that spontaneity and high energy are vital for my growth and satisfaction within my career. All of this has proven to be an invaluable learning experience. I am proud of my work and I feel it is excellent preparation for my future role as a counselor.
