Undergraduate / 'the tv show bones' - USC Supplement [2]
I think this is really weak...was the "bones" part kinda silly?? I'm not sure how to explain my interest in the subjects...I just am! haha :P
Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC. Please feel free to address your first- and second-choice major selections.
When asked what my major is going to be, I always replied "undecided," because I couldn't choose between all the fields of study that I am interested in. This is why USC's interdisciplinary major of Cognitive Sciences is perfect for me. It includes the subjects of Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Neurology, which are the fields of study I have great interest in. One reason I am interested in Cognitive Sciences is that I really like the show "Bones" and I would love to learn about what the characters in the show are experts in. Watching the show also only stimulated my pre-Bones-existing interest in Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Neurology.
I am also interested in Advertising, and as shown on the activities section of my application, I was and am involved in small, online businesses. I acted as not only the model for the two businesses, one of which is still up and thriving, but I am currently the Director of Publicity and Sales for my assigned region, which currently, given the small scale of the business, remains around Whitney High School. With this experience, I plan to start something of my own branch at USC, where I can expand to new customers. Because Cognitive Sciences does not include Advertising and USC does not have an Advertising program, I plan to minor in Consumer Behavior.
