Undergraduate / Presence of cultural diversity in the US; Global UGRAD Program / Why study in the US? [2]

Statement A: Please describe why you would like to study in the US. What past experiences have given you this motivation? How will studying on the Global UGRAD program help you learn about America? How will learning about the U.S. influence your personal and professional goals for the future?

Since Global UGRAD Program provides a unique opportunity for enthusiastic students, there are reasons and plans to study in the US. To my mind, I am not exclusively Caucasian that I am anticipating to experience with help of the program; being surrounded by people and academic atmosphere, I am to see what role education plays in my life. Despite knowing the reasons to study, a bigger picture of it can only be seen later in life. The Global UGRAD program, however, proves the importance of being a highly educated person beforehand. Given any culture possesses invaluable knowledge, the presence of cultural diversity in the States serves as a source from which I can learn a lot. Besides representing my national identity to global family, one more reason to study in the US is to acquire such skills as interpersonal communication in a wider context. In other words, I will socialize with different people from different countries to broaden my horizons. Moreover, by experiencing various feelings in the fast paced society, I will be able to examine my character traits. Thus, enhance positive sides and eliminate negative ones. These are the significant reasons to study in the US.

It is usually inspiring to look back and recall the motives of the major actions you have taken recently. From early teenage years, movies and foreign pen-friends of mine shed light on American student life, where every single student is responsible for his/her well-being and success. Furthermore, I have been accompanying my university studies with a part-time job as an English language instructor at a language training center. Sometimes, there are questions during the classes that no book can give an exact answer, but personal experience gained from constant communication with native-speakers of the language. In moments like this, I step back my students' doubts and say "Having gone through real communication, one day I will return from the USA to answer all your questions!". Nevertheless, the most crucial motive arises when I think out of the box; my grandfather, a man of seventy, has never stepped a school, but worked hard throughout his live as a farmer. His dream came true when my father moved to the capital and later received his Ph degree. Similarly, when my father's contribution to my education, which is the best investment, gives its fruits, his expectations will be met. My long-term outlook is that coming generation will attain even higher educational goals; therefore, I have to make most out of the foundations that my father and grandfather have created. These are the reasons that motivated me to make a decision regarding Global UGRAD program.

The remarkableness of the program is that it brings selected students together and supports them to share their ideas and learn from each other. Personally, I take to the program for the opportunities to take part in tutorials, lectures, public holidays and academic and non-academic contests. All of the mentioned will help an exchange student discover America with all its paradigms. Likewise, public rules, unwritten obligations and social regulations will treat me as if I am an American citizen, while a deliberate imitation accelerates the learning process. Of all occasions aforementioned, the interactions with local people will remain the main source to learn about American history, values and norms. Taking into account the aim of the program to bring representatives of various cultures together, I am aware that I will be exposed to mutual learning and effective co-operation.

For the period of living in the US, I will study and work side-by-side with outstanding students and young professionals to meet high standards. Consequently, this period will have a positive impact on personality and future career. Not only does the Global UGRAD program give up-to-date experience for personal and intellectual growth, but trains confidence and brings to maturity. By the end of the program, I expect myself to be adoptable to different situations and flexible in working with people with distinct backgrounds. While living in the dormitory, I will have to shoulder responsibility for every step taken and decision made by me. In essence, the program nurtures a responsible identity in one's personality. As a future graduate of faculty of Economics with Finance, I am to have skills compatible with ever changing world standards. Therefore, required community service and internship experiences will influence those professional skills positively. To be more precise, I will learn how to deal with different people and respect others' opinions in the US and in my future profession.

As a foregone conclusion, I believe participation in the program will develop a stronger person by enriching professional and personal knowledge and hence give excellent motivation to make contributions in motherland upon completion of the program.

And last, the collaboration between universities, which fosters research rigor and innovation, is an additional factor why I have chosen this particular project.
Contributing to a research project such as iSocialTN requires not only the ability for research rigor, but also a high capacity for designing and implementing distributed systems

Graduate / My family background; Speech Pathology Statement of Purpose [2]

I grew up surrounded by family in the medical field. My mother is an adolescent psychiatric nurse. My brother is a family physician and 2 of my cousins are graduating medical school this year. But that was not for me. I was going to set the world on fire. Poor intro.

My undergraduate degree is in Business Management. I planned on gaining experience in finance and marketing and then obtaining an MBA in whichever field interested me. Now, here I am almost 6 years later having realized that I had no sense of purpose, that I would go home at night feeling that I had not accomplished anything. I now look back at friends from high school and college and envy the fact that they always knew what they wanted. Many are teachers, some are attorneys and a few went into the medical field. They are happy. I was not. Who needs your dilemmah? Tell us about you!

Over the last few years I tried to figure out what I wanted to do, what would give me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. My family talked to me about medical school, nursing school and law school. They suggested that I obtain teaching certification but I just did not feel the calling for any of these. It was during this time that I became friendly with a neighbor who is a Speech Pathologist.

Bored...

Undergraduate / to my mom' - Apply Texas Topic A (Inspiration) [5]

"Bang!" the door went, and with that unforgiving sound life, as I knew it, would never be that same ever again.

My parents had been disputing with each other for years now but on this night the arguingquarrel was different; it had grown tired, as had they, and my father stormed out the door, the door banging shut behind him. There, in that cold and frail house, he left my mom along with my two olderelder brothers and I to fend the world off on our own. Life therein after was simply... difficult.

Nice writing...I do not know about the question, but your sad story is not compatible with university enrollment....
