Undergraduate / people set the goals in the life which they think they can achieve [6]

I don,t agree with the assertion because I believe that most of the difficult challanges one face come from the outside. I also believe that one we usually sets goal for ourseleves knowing our capasities or not much much ahead to them. But the greatest are the challenges which come from outside and for which, we are not prepared of.

According to me, people set the goals in the life which they think they can achieve. Every person know his/her strength or drawbacks and oweing to them, the goals are either reachable or reachable with certain difficulty for which person prepares himself. The challenges which are are set by the person himself are not far ahead of the actual situation. This will help the person to get perepared for the upcoming challenge and situation. when a person for example set the goal for winning a marathan he/she will be prepared with the challenges of it and in this way the results are in favour. But if suddenly on the marathan day some misshap occurs like muscle strain or toe injury then in this situation result will certainly go down.

On the countrary, the challenges for which a person is not prepared of or the challenges which have come from outside are difficult to deal. For example,as happened with me, when I was perparing myself for medical exams and suddenly challenge from the university rules came and according to that seats are even lesser than before because of the new reservations. The situation was even difficult then before. The reason I felt it more harder is that I was not prepared for that. Similarly when India was facing ecnomic problems and working on politics and sudden attack from nabighouring countries shook it hard. Its not like India cant face it but the problem was that india was not prepared for it.

Acoording to me, life is full of challenges. We need them to grow wheter they are set by ourselevs or from outside. But results are better when we are prepared for them. When we set our goals we can expect challenges and can get ready for them. Where as when they are from outside we can't get prepared and hence are difficult to deal.

Please tell me the approximate score which I can get on this. I am gointo give the english composition on 22nd may. Also tell me my errors so that I can improve it.

Thanks.

Undergraduate / people set the goals in the life which they think they can achieve [6]

Hello Kevin,

Need your help. I am going to take clep english compositiion exam on this friday.
( I know it's too early to recieve new knowledge) Can you please guide me how should I approach to "on the spot topic." I am not a native American hence I am not aware about American history, geography and economy. That is why, I sometime find myself with lack of examples.

Can you please suggest me which type of example I should choose? Most of the time question ask you to agree or disagree about the assertion.

I will be waiting for your response.

Thanks in advance.

Essays / Originality means putting old ideas together in new ways [7]

I am writting my next eaasy please tell me is it better or same. How much I can score on it.

Topic is- Originality does not mean thinking something that was never thought before; it means putting old ideas together in new ways."

Here is my essay-

It's true that originality is not always something new but it can be old thoughts presented in new ways. Originiality comes from creativity, intellegence and broader perspective. But it can be discovery of pre-existing thoughts and ideas which are presented with a totally different point of view. It can be a amalgamation of two or three older ideas. Or it can be the demand to improve the existing concepts.

Sometime different and even better ideas can be obtained by using the pre-existing thoughts or works. As for example, we know that sun give us energy but the idea to use that energy as a sourse of power is really original or making a animated movie frm the old mythological or frictional story is a original idea. By using our preexisting knowledge about the missiles or space projectors new and improved instruments can be evolved, which can be a revolution. These older thoughts and projects gives the insperation to evolve something better. Many inventions and discoveries can take place with the help of older ideas or concepts.

Furthermore, demands or the requirement can also convert the old projects into new and original forms. Didn't we say the idea of having laptops as original but it emerges out of the demand of having a handy computer. So sometime demand of certain thing can give rise to find a new path out of the known. It's an old saying that "demands are the monther of inventions", so why not discoveries? I will say that this a another way to show the creativity.

To sum up, I will say for being original one need not essentially be unique but it must be different. Whichever way we choose to gain this originality either a previous work or demands for reinviving the older concepts it'll be considered correct; Unless untill it's different.

Writing Feedback / TOEFL - Prefer to work for a large company; good material rewards [7]

I think your essay is good enough but there are lot of " run-on-sentenses".
For example,
1.During the one year, I learned many professional knowledge of my work from my company in which I could meet different people most of whom are talents, experts in this field.

2.To conclude, considerable working in a small company ,they can not compete with the benefits that working in a big one, which could get learning opportunities and material rewards to support their families.

To fix it you can try making smaller sentences.

There are few typing errors as well which I think you can avoid by proofreading.

Good luck for the test.

Writing Feedback / Clep essay-Laws should not be rigid or fixed. Instead, they should be flexible. [4]

Can you please tell me the approximate score I can get on this? Please do tell my mistakes as well.

Topic is---Laws should not be rigid or fixed. Instead, they should be flexible enough to take account of various circumstances, times, and places."

My essay---

Law in any country governs the activity in that country. Law includesa are the rules which the citizen of that country must follow and the consequences of not following these rules. So if the rule will not be rigid, the countryman will violet the laws more frequently and affecting other people in the country. Country will soon be converted into a jungle where nobody follows rules and everything is messed up. But there can be flexibility in terms of the consequences of breaking that law considering the circumstances, time, place and all. This will be helpful in reforming human beings because punishments may turn person rebellion. If we will give the offender chance to reform there are some possibility that we will get some more good humans.

Laws regarding the rules to be followed are very essential for effective working of the country. If there won't be any rule for example no traffic rules, there will be casualties more often and more rush-ups at hospitals. Not only the rules are necessary but also the effective implementation of it because if there are thousands of rule book for any country but nobody follows it, then it makes no sense. For implementation of that rule not only the authority are required which will monitor the rights and wrongs but some punishments are also required. For example, if one has murdered a common man or rob a bank and if we will not punish him then the person will do it again.

But it is also necessary to look into the circumstances and the situation in which someone has committed the crime. There are sometime self defense crime or sometime under pressure or unintentional crimes can also happen. In this way if these situation are not taken into account can be hazardous for an innocent person. It's written in all law books that 5 criminals live are better than one innocent dead. We cannot punish any innocent person. This flexibility can be advantageous to law offender sometime. They can use these flexibilities as their weapon and try to prove themselves innocent. So we can say situation is very critical as flexibility can be good or can be bad. Then what should we do?

To conclude law must be rigid and fixed for all but there has to be some flexibility considering the time, situation and place because innocent person should not suffer for any reason.

Thanks in advance.
