Writing Feedback / IELTS Task 2: it is important to build more public parks and sport facilities than shopping centre [3]

Hi! I spotted that change in tense in a sentence" It was suggested that ...." should this sentence be present tense?

And how about this into:
Nowadays, authorities are required to build enough amenities such as shopping centers and parks for the well-being of their residents. Some people argue over whether to prioritize building sport facilities over having shopping centers in their neighborhood. I partially support this argument, as lack of commercial areas may pose several inconveniences to our community.

Writing Feedback / You worked part time for a company in the past and now see an advertisement for full time [2]

You worked part time for a company in the past and now see an advertisement for full time work at the same company. You want to apply for the job.

Write a letter to the hiring manager.

In your letter
Describe the part-time work you did
Explain why you want the full-time work
Tell him/her why you think you will be good at the job

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Cindy Huang and I am writing to express my interest in the position of full-time Teacher at your school. As you may concern I am used to work as a part-time Tutor before and my work experiences help me be a qualified candidate for this job.

In my previous part-time work at your school, I ran after school tutoring club where I worked one-on-one with a variety of students who are struggling in math and science. I also designed individual study plans with the help of classroom teachers. We had regular meetings to collaborate on developing programs to help students overcome their personal challenges. These experiences help me grow to understand the difficulties that some students have and to learn how to help them overcome their struggles.

The reason why I am interested in this full-time position now is that I am ready to return to work after taking my time to be with family, as my youngest child is ready for school now. I have spent three years for my university degree and now I have completed my master in education. I can teach ESL and science and I am eager to use new skills to teach.

I believe that I am an excellent candidate for two good reasons. I know the school, the teachers and the curriculum. Previous part-time work experiences gave me an edge that I am very familiar with the working environment. I also have a proven success record that the attendance at the tutoring club grew when I was there, and teachers reported students who were in struggle with math and science improved their academic results with my help.

Should you require further information, do not hesitate to contact me. Please find my CV attached. I am looking forward to your sincere answer.

Yours Faithfully,

Cindy Huang

Writing Feedback / TASK: Some people think that one should retire at the age of 65. [3]

TASK:
Some people think that one should retire at the age of 65.
Others say that people should be allowed to work for as long as they want to.

What is your opinion about this?

People have argued over the suitable retirement age for the elderly. From my perspective, the society can reap benefits from giving them a job offer after the age of 65.

First and foremost, based on the common rights shared by the elderly and the others, all of us have our free will to work as much as we desire. Why would we fold our arms but not to make good use of own experiences? To be a well developed country all the elderly would be invited to work.

Second, with more well-trained members joining the workforce, it will ease the burden on the government's society expenses. That's why the government appeals for the old to work after the retirement age. To become a sophisticated society the elderly people's productivity should be exploited for the greater good.

The medical technologies empower us a longer and healthy life. Although there are some setbacks, I think it is important for everyone to be given the same chances in work, regardless of age.

Writing Feedback / The question - what is the right age for the children to start learning a new language [5]

@Veranda

how about this intro:
People have argued that what the right age is for the children to start learning a new language. However, deciding on whether kids should start learning in elementary school can be a tough task. From my perspective, I would argue more benefits come from letting the young to speak foreign in their early age

Writing Feedback / The question - what is the right age for the children to start learning a new language [5]

TOPIC: Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.

Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

MY ESSAY:
People have argued that what the right age is for the children to start learning a new language. Some would assume the student at primary school should learn a foreign language as they may pick up considerably faster and more accurate pronunciation in early age while it may have negative impacts on the development of a child's mother tongue. From my perspective, I would argue more benefits come from letting the young to speak foreign in their early age.

On the one hand, a child in primary school have better memory on vocabulary and be less self-conscious to speak a language from overseas countries through practices. When they are young, they are trained as a habitual practice to speak with foreigner. It is better for them to overcome fears in the young age. For example, in western society, parents usually teach their young kids some uncharted sports such as ice-skating. Furthermore, due to globalization it goes without saying that speak languages other than their mother tongue is growing extremely important these days.

On the other hand, given that other subjects such as Math or Natural Sciences are considered notably important by school authorities, learning foreign language can waste time than used to study those subjects. Besides, learning another language can interfere with the development of children's mother tongue. For example, student can confuse between grammatical usage and spelling of words of two languages. This could lead to the struggle to use their mother tongue.

To conclude, despite school administrator's preference on subjects and confusion that may be aroused from learning a second language, the benefits of learning new languages still outweigh the drawbacks because as a trend, parents would support their kids to learn foreign languages in early age to give an edge over the elder ones.
