My motivation letter

Motivation Letter for Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship

Dear Admission Committee,
I am writing this letter to apply for a master's in electrical engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Hungry, quite relevant to my previous educational background. I accomplished my bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from [xxxxxxxxxxx] in 2020 with a CGPA of 3.95 out of 4.0.

Being chosen at the undergraduate level in electrical engineering was like a perfect fit for me because I have been playing and repairing broken electrical and electronic objects at a scrap dealer's shop right in front of my home from a very young age, which generated interest in me to learn more about these devices. The best part of my undergrad was group projects. Being a group leader, I have always sought to put an innovative approach to engineering challenges and have got appreciation either in form of funding or awards and have published papers on them.

My project for the final year was based on the Smart Grid (SG) and Demand Side Load Management (DSM). I aimed to have a load shedding alternative, which is a critical challenge for many developing nations, including mine, Pakistan. I have successfully built a smart energy meter hardware model that can optimize electricity consumption to reduce peak demand and prevent any overload situations that can cause load shedding or blackout of power. This project was awarded government funding.

In addition to Power Systems as a key speciality and Smart Systems Integrations as a secondary specialization, my master's degree in electrical engineering at BME will not only boost my skillset, but also my potential to understand challenges, think abstractly, see the broader picture, and flourish my ability to build strategies to make a power system smart. This program would allow me to further explore smart grids and methods for designing smart networks that could make the power sector more efficient and resilient.

The opportunity of stipendium Hungaricum scholarship will enable me to pursue my education and research to achieve my ambition and play a role in modernizing the world's power structure. With approximately 108/120 credits devoted to electrical engineering and many practical and laboratory classes, the innovative, stunningly designed, and holistic curriculum of the electrical engineering program at BME definitely ensures that my practical expertise and research skills are polished. This curriculum would integrate in me those competencies that are necessary for modern electrical engineering to market himself successfully and to capture a strong place in the rapidly growing industry.

In addition, learning in the oldest and one of the world's best universities and a country with stunning architecture, rich history, quality education, lively cultural life, many places of world heritage and convenient public transport in the heart of Europe has its charm and unparalleled exposure to be acquired. And it is encouraging to know that 18 BME researchers are among the best 2 % researchers in the world according to a report published on most cited researchers of world. Overall, this program has a perfect blend of location, price, and quality of education.

After completing my master's degree and returning full of skills and expertise, I would join the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), a government-based entity that operates 500 and 220 kV transmission and grid stations. This would be the perfect way for me to use my skills and expertise acquired from abroad to pull my country out of the crises of energy.

I would like to conclude that I am excited to learn new experience, strengthen my skills and expand my knowledge of the world's power structure, and I am confident that learning electrical engineering at BME would lead to my career growth in the best possible way.

Thank you very much for considering my application.

Yours faithfully,

Murtaza Ali

Scholarship / Stipendium Hungaricum Motivational Letter For Architecture [7]

@mairanoor
I think this is a very expanded explanation of one simple question. you should answer this question more precisely and to the point. you should also include the educational background that relates you with the program you are applying for. The second paragraph is a bit extra explanatory and the admission committee does not have that much time to go in every detail of your letter so be concise and realistic to attract the admission committee and in the last para, you have said that exceptional academic background can not always be the reason for a successful candidate, this might create negative impression because till this moment the admission committee and not met you all the information they have about you is from your previous background which mostly consists of academic achievements.

Scholarship / Scholarship application - relating academic objective with future goal [6]

be specific about your goals you alone can not create a phase shift in your country's energy sector so make a goal that should be achievable and closely related to you. your first two-line, are controversial to each other. In your first line, you are telling the country has ensured a high-quality supply and in second-line, you are saying the country is still under power crisis, make it correct. and when you are saying you will utilize the untapped renewable energy, be specific in that too indicate some potential areas where the energy is tapped in what form etc.

I would just say be more specific and do some more research on electrical engineering, where this field is heading and make your goals accordingly

Scholarship / Why the University should select me for the scholarship for masters [3]

scholarship letter

Despite spending 4-6 hours working at the shop, I managed to get admission in one of the top-ranked universities of my country. Being a shopkeeper, I learned a powerful lesson; that is time is everything and passing it the best possible manner is an "ART" that comes with experience, suffer and realization. The one who understood worth and complexities of time are the ones to rule it.

I belong to a middle-class family and live in a middle-class society where load-shedding is a common problem, and we deal with it daily. Many kids born in an era when it started have started to think that it is the only way and had been since long ago, and unfortunately, I was one of them. However, people have found some alternative solutions like Uninterruptable Power supply (UPS) and small scale generators to manage their electricity needs. Yet, they have lots of drawbacks and maintenance cost is high, and not everyone can afford it. Electricity, like water, food, and oxygen, has become a basic need for a human being. Moreover, to live a comfortable and prosperous life, a continuous supply of electricity is a must. However, our government has been unable to provide it. Unfortunately, the problem does not seem to be solved until the next 5 to 10 years and requires attention and huge investment.

In such situations, engineers have to develop innovatively and out of box solutions to tackle the problem. I still remember when I was attending a workshop on Arduino in one of our University's departments. That day I realized how much power programming languages have to solve our daily life problems. However, It was an only two-day workshop, but the spark that it ignited in my mind did not let me sit back. That was when my life had a turn, and I began to view daily life problems in a completely different manner. Development and prototype and hardware were a thing of my interest for a long time, and with my intro to Arduino, it became even more profound. From that day, most of my semester projects were Arduino and programming based. Not only semester projects, but I also started to work on other projects related to daily life problems. One of them was "An Automatic system of underground and overhead water tanks," which got me 2nd position in a university competition. This achievement boosted my confidence, and I started looking at the other problems and realized that most of them are related to load-shedding of electricity.

So I began to think of innovative solutions and found that if the consumers and utility grid co-operate with each other, this problem can be solved pretty quickly. But unfortunately, neither the grid station nor consumers have smart gadgets to co-operate with each other. So I proposed the solution, which was developing a Smart grid and Energy meter smart enough to continuously communicate with each other and control the power during peak load hours. I took it as my final year project. I started working on it, but due to financial and technological constraints, I only developed smart meter capable of limiting the load during peak load shedding hours. But to provide a complete solution, smart grid and other aspects like proper communication technology and other smart gadgets are necessary.

And I think these both issues of technical and financial can be solved by "The National University of Malaysia". Firstly it is one of the most technologically advanced and modern University of the world with four world-class research centers and University ranking in the top 200 in QS world university ranking 2020. Secondly, it provides more than RM 10.4 million grants for research purposes. And I think that by taking proper advantage of these two benefits, I can develop a very effective and sustainable solution to load shedding.

If selected for the scholarship, I would like to choose sir Dr. Nor Azwan Mohamed Kamari from the "Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment" as my research supervisor. I have read the current research conducted by sir Nor Azwan Mohamed Kamari, which is "Optimal Energy Scheduling Strategy for Smart Grid using Wind Driven Optimization Approach." and I think my proposed solution has a resemblance to it. It will be very beneficial for me to work with sir, do my research work, and take as much advantage as possible.
