Writing Feedback / Do-Gooders need to let us decide (the three risky behaviors), rough draft [2]

Part 1
Tile and author: I had to read a story called "Do-Gooders Need to Let Us Decide for ourselves what is Harmful" by Ed Fulginiti. Now that is a long title for a story.

Brief Summary: the story had a lot of confessions and rants about making your own decisions. The author himself tells about how he was a child and made very bad decisions but was lucky enough to not be hurt in anyway. He talks about how kids will be kids and not thinks about the reckless dangers they put themselves in through everyday life. How people need to just make the own choice and take whatever karma gives them, some are lucky and don't receive bad luck.

Bridge Sentence: I agree with Ed Fulginiti, people will always make their own choice by the time they are born to the time they will die of old age.

Thesis Statement: I'm going to write about the three risky behaviors that I had done and hope my child doesn't do the same.

Part 2
First transition: to begin with the story I was a very wild teen, I'm not so proud of it. While Ed fulginiti hopped off of moving trains I was smoking at the age of thirteen. You think I'm talking about cigarettes but not I'm talking about marijuana. I knew the dangers of smoking pot, but I didn't care because that was the cool thing to do back in middle school before kissing ever come into my mind. I remember my first experience was with a girl name Miranda and her older sister. When I started I felt like I couldn't stop, till I got caught in high school my senior year. Thank god the teacher was a close friend to my family and didn't report me to the school. You can say I was one of the lucky one who didn't have no consequences to my actions.

Part 3
Second Transition: another wild thing I did was sex; I wish to this day I had waited. When I enter in high school as a freshman I hated it because all the upper classmen would torture us. Well I smoke weed all the time especially before I went to class so I can deal with the bullshit. One day I met a boy name Don I thought he was one of the coolest people in that high school. Well he was a junior and hang out with me. Well I shouldn't had fall for his sweet talk because when he got what he wanted from me, he left and kept being cool don. Then I became Reese cup because he would joke about how sweet I was this was horrible for me and one of the consequences I had to take for one action that I thought was worth it. Kind of remind me of Ed Fulginiti when he ate too much candy and drink too much soda, just not a good combination.

Part 4
Thrid Transition: Most importantly the worst decision I had ever made was alcohol. I started drinking my Junior year in high school. I moved to another state and Reese Cup wasn't use as a sex joke and pretty happy I was getting a new clean slate. I was in choir and orchestra doing my best even though I was still smoking pot it kind of cut down.... (didn't finsish this or the conlusion) please help! and thanks

Essays / The question of whether hard work is the only factor that contributes to a success rather than luck [8]

People in a favour of materialism often argue that the greatest achievements, hard work is the crucial key opening the door to success. (that's a comma splice).

Unless ancient Chinese mixed together charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter all items commonly found in kitchens in those days, modern people would not have seen any firework.

it's good in the end but you need to try to make your introduction better there's alot of mistakes.

I hope this helps! :-)

Writing Feedback / Why We Crave Horror Movies [3]

In the movie "Why We Crave Horror Movies," author Stephan King tells about why we love violence so much and how we are a little bit insane. He also talks about the things we wanted to do that are evil but never dare to put them into action. In today's society, it is easy to understand Stephan King's story. I'm going to give three reasons why I agree with what he said that are related to today's society.

One reason I agree with Stephan King is "I think that we're all mentally ill" (1). I think this saying is very true especially in today's society; people from the simple lives can one day just snap into insanity. Every time you turn on the news, you hear stories of people killing in the crime of passion. For example I went online to read the news and found out two Georgia teenage twin girls had brutally killed their mother. They must have been mentally ill and could hide it very well to killing their own mother.

Another reason that I also agree with is that we want to test our fears. We want to prove that we are not afraid of anything and that death is not a fear. For instance, we go to see horror movies to prove that we are not afraid or maybe we go to see horror movies because we fantasize doing something like that in the real world. When you go to sleep every night, there would be two things that you will dream if you went to see a horror movie. You will either become the prey or the predator, but in my dreams I become the predator. I go to the movies to see what the worst can happen in real life.

The last reason I agree with Stephan King is, "we go to have fun" (2). Fear in today's society is our entertainment, and we love to get our hearts pumping. Horror movies have become our new entertainment for example, the Romans loved to watch people getting fed to the lions. There is something inside us that loves to see other people in pain, to see blood coming out from their bodies. Even if you didn't like to watch the horrible scène, you can't look away because it's something you have to see.

To sum up the reasons, Stephan King is right about horror movies they had become our new addiction. Horror movies test us on our fears, desires and mentality. I love horror movies because they test all the three things I just wrote about, so are we all crazy and sick? How long can we keep our composure in today's society before we snap and decide to start going on a murdering rampage. Some of the worst serial killers could have become some of the brightest minds of today, so what made them snap? I guess we can hide our sick minds better than them, or we are just too scared to go through what they wanted to do. As for me, I'm the person who cannot go through it because I don't have the guts, but I do think about it a lot.
