Undergraduate / My Later Rain Greater than my Former... [4]

Actually, I believe I am in the wrong site for me. I am far from a college student undergraduate or otherwise. I simple love the different things I do writing is one of them. I have so much to learn and I am far from the level where many of you are. Yes, I've dealt with some pretty deep stuff and I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg.

Undergraduate / My Later Rain Greater than my Former... [4]

In my family I was my mother's eighth child. I was the product of rape and was tortured and very severely abused by afew of my siblings. My mother, although loving was not always attentive. I have always been a kind and caring person in spite of my homelife. Seven months ago, my mother died after living for seven months with me. She chose to live with me the least in our household. I have faced death 3 times in life, I've been raped twice and I am disabled but, nothing held back the love I had for the woman who birthed me. She gave me a gift in living with me and loving me that nothing in this world can ever replace. My siblings and I are not close today, but hopefully in time that will all change. Today I have peace knowing my mother was not perfect and she had flaws but she also loved me. That is a gift that keeps on giving long after the giver is gone.

I am not the most knowledgable writer but, writing is a passion of mine. I liked your essay and I applaud you for being strong and supporting your family. There is a book I read that helps me in my writing called: "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser.

Undergraduate / "ministry at my church called KLEMA" (extracurricular activities or work experience) [4]

As a person with disabilities I find myself discriminated against because of my appearance. It's great that you are working to make things better for others. I suffer physically but, it does not stop me from volunteering to shop for the blind, assisting the elderly with different health remedies for their ailments. I often give shelter to those displaced by tragedy. More people in the world should learn from your example.

Scholarship / To Fill an Obvious Void in My Community [3]

It is my hope and my dream to in someway change the lives of others in a positive way. I was not fortunate to have many advantages in life. My life over the past 20 years has been plagued with many disabilities that limit me physically, but not mentally. I've always used my time most effectively. I love encouraging others and I have never turned anyone away that needed something I possessed be it food, shelter, clothing or motivation. I have been a poet, writer and artist since the age of 5.

I make handmade African Ragdolls, and create multi-media artwork. I created the outline for a new Mentorship Program I call "Protege." It stands for Promoting recovery opportunities through encouragement growth and education. It is geared towards helping entire families, fostering both parents and children. I would love to attend an online university. Several tragic events in my past made pursuing an education difficult. I have much drive and ambition! I never fail to impart something positive in those I meet. Life has handed me many challenges that I have overcome, but I know I possess knowledge in health and natural healing, carpentry, catering and other gifts and talents. As much as I believe in myself, hopefully there is someone who will take a chance and believe in me too.
