I'm planning to apply universities in USA. I'm a future freshmen in 2012. Want to major in Computer Science.
Now i pick several universities, want your advise.

4. University of Kansas
Choose 2 universities.
(The weather should be hospitable, without too many extreme weather.like tornado, extreme weather change in a day and so on.)

In twenty years, there will be fewer cars in use than there are today.

Talking about cars, it is now still the main transportation in the world, but it does seem to decrease the use of it for the great environment damage it caused. On the other hand, on the way to decrease the use of cars always full of difficulties.

First, it is obvious that nearly everywhere on this planet are running cars, which cause serious traffic jam in some urban area. Though cars are useful, it become one of the top problems to human. People have thought a great number of solutions to solve this problem and have made progress in this issue. For example, the government in my city considers enlarging the size of public transportation to satisfy the people's daily demand. In this project, the government bought nearly 100 buses and redesigns the bus's routes. And this project really works. In the first month, the number of cars was decreased 5%. On the other hand, some NGO started a movement called "pick up your bicycle", it encouraged people ride their bike when go to work or school, and even short-distance travels. I also take part in this movement by riding bike to school. Sometimes volunteers may disguise as passerby and surprisingly give you a gift to reward you for participate in the movement.

However, cars are not easy to decrease in a short time for they are still the most convenient transportation to people. Throughout the history of transportation, thought cars are not the first transportation that human used, it's obvious that they are the most effective. Cars make people's life more convenient and comfortable. People use cars to carry contraction materials to built their house and make traveler easy to arrive places where they want. In the meantime, the fuels that cars used are easy to get for the technology are advanced, and since there are no substitutions for cars to make contribution to human, cars will not become fewer in the a short time.

To sum up, the number of cars is decrease only when the substitutions are available and public transportation are fully developed.

Nowadays, there is a growing recognition that people spend more time on enjoyment than the jobs they should do. But from where I stand, this two are not paradox. Compared to those who lived in the past, people nowadays have to deal with more issues, which make them stressful and anxious. So it's obvious that people need a way to release their stress. On the other hand, if people can arrange their time properly, and have their work done with efficiency. Its make sense for people to explore the pleasure of life.

With the rapid development of the society, a large amount of works are offered to people, which bring them depression and mental diseases. Therefore, relaxation is the right choice to release. People usually go for a trip on vacation, play PC games like Angry Bird and Doodle Jump, and play basketball with their friends as if they were back to their childhood. In fact, personal enjoyment is an indispensable part of people's life, which plays a crucial role in modern society.

Further more, as long as people dispose time suitably, they won't affected by personal enjoyments; on the contrary, they can form good habits through dealing things in an efficient way. When I was in high school, I began to manage my study, which used to be my parents job. At first I did it awful. Spending all my time to be a coach potato, I fell behind my classmates and become lack of confidence. Then I talked to my parents and got fabulous advice by them. I made a study schedule that put all the entertainment back behind the study and did all the project and paper as quick as I can. When the end of the semester came, I became one of the top 100 students. In the meantime, I still have time to play Red Alert.

So I'd like t say "without either one, the society would not be complete"

Having a broad knowledge and specializing in one special subject are two contradictory options. Acquire knowledge from different subjects offer people extensive choices which can make contributions to their future career. Being a specialist in a particular course also play a significant roll not only in nowadays. Not only in people's development, but also in the whole society. Because this society need specialist to study in one field further to make more contribution.

First of all, any disciplines are not isolated, different subjects are associated. People with a broad knowledge can think thoroughly and become considerate. In this way, when people facing unpredictable difficulties, they can figure out more than one solution toward the problems. Like the Project Apollo, it was an unprecedented project, so it was more difficult to achieve. Therefore, scientists in different field were participated in to make sure this plan success. Physicists design the rocket that suit for space flight; mathematicians calculate orbits of the rocket. And ensure the rocket can fly accurately, avoid it being off the track; chemists choose the fuel of the Apollo. Guarantee the rocket's launch and return. It is the effort that made by all scientists let the Apollo launched into space.

However, people specialize in particular subject are also crucial to our modern society. Specialize in one subject make people explore further in his career, and become more professional in this field. For example, as a great scientist, Albert Einstein was not as good as famous mathematicians in the same period. But in his major Physics, he did fantastic. The well-known relativity theory that he put forwarded, lead modern Physics into a new stage. With the further develop of his theory, Atomic Bomb was made, and put in to use in the World War 2. And it helps the Allied forces win the final victory.

To sum up, broad knowledge and specialized knowledge are both important.
