Scholarship / mechanical and electrical engineering in Turkey- scholarship [3]

thank you very much. i really appreciate. so i decided to change a little bit

The faculty that I am going to pursue is a mechanical and electrical engineering. There are many reasons why I want to study exactly this department. Yet, only one reason outshines the others. Firstly, up to 11th grade I had always preferred only humanities classes and imagined myself as a diplomat or someone like that in the future, and had always dreamed that I would continue my studies in the field of economics. At that time I had never coped well with humanities classes in contrast to science lessons such as math, physics and chemistry. But one day I realized that I had to experience something different and unusual. That something happened to be physics. I started to learn it more and more every single day. It really interested me. So, eventually my opinion changed at once. I decided to continue studies at university in the field of engineering.

The second reason concerns my plans in the way that I want to bring much benefit to my country working as a contributing and a very effective engineer in the future. It is the most important goal that I want to achieve in my life. Because, currently, in my view, our country needs qualitative individuals who are very capable to their work. So as a result, I am sure that I will be in the list of these engineers.

As for that, why I chose exactly Turkey, I would claim that Turkey possesses all factors that could enable any prospective student to feel satisfied, including me too. For me, it is a golden opportunity to study in Turkey. In fact, most Turkish technical universities have a strong curriculum to offer such as Middle East Technical University, Bogazici University or Istanbul Technical University and equipped with highly-qualified professors. Moreover, if we look at Turkey from the economic aspect, it will be obviously seen that Turkey is one of the dynamically-developing countries. Terms both financial and spiritual are getting better and better every day.

Undergraduate / 'Friendship, responsibility, and dedication' - work experiences, Common app [2]

Friendship, responsibility, and dedication. These are the words that come to mind when I think about the Student Council.

I joined this organization at the time when I was a sophomore not only as an after school activity but as an elective.

As I became more familiar with this organization, it became a greater part of my life and due to it I learnt 'who I really was', eventually leading me to become a senior class president.

At my time of StuCo, I was able to participate in different projects, which became close to my heart; during Christmas we go out to grocery stores and ask people to donate items that will help us to make provide Christmas to families in a scarce in our community.

The Student Council has not only transformed me, but also taught things such as responsibility, leadership, and how giving provides personal rewards.

Undergraduate / 'The Blank Sheet of Paper' - about Extracurricular Activities [4]

I let my thoughts run down my arm, hand, and through the pencil onto the paper.

It lets me create the world of my imagination onto the paper.

The blank paper is worth nothing without the artist, any imagination and talent. In other words, it will remain just a blank sheet of paper.

Then, I use the table as the background: the wooden carvings and rings give me more ideas for details like cross-hatching or stumbing.

The fresh paint beside me gives the ideas for colors.

After having been satisfied with my finished sketch, I make last minute changes to the rough draft before I start on my final draft on a clean poster board.

Without the artist and imagination, the paper would have remained a blank sheet of paper.

Undergraduate / Common application about musical instrument of my culture [3]

Hi, I am a new member of site. I ought to write a very short essay about musical instrument of my culture... so, please leave your comments, correct my mistakes if it is necessary and if you have another point of view, please write them down right here. Thank you all very much!!!

Dombra - is a musical instrument of our vast culture and has a big place, too. Without this kind of instrument, our tradition is just like in a scarce. It looks like a guitar, but has a smaller round wood and only 2 catguts exist. Personally, I love playing dombra, very much. I have been playing it since I was about 13 and have already won some city and republican awards. My parents suggested me getting some experiences with this instrument as I would have some opportunities to keep in my memory or even not to forget about a part of my culture. So, now I am estimated to be as a professional dombra player which means I can teach other people, share with my skills. Undoubtedly, it was really a hard way to achieve this level, it took much energy, time, I even felt my self very stressful sometimes. However, results are shown to my face.
