Undergraduate / QUEENS is my Cinderella slipper; Research done for QUEENS COMMERCE PROGRAM [2]

In 300 words or fewer (approximately 1950 characters with spaces), please demonstrate the research you have done to ensure that Queen's Commerce Program is the right fit for you.

Often times it is difficult to determine if a program is the "right fit" without actually paying the tuition and going to the school, however I have without a doubt in my mind that Queens is my Cinderella slipper. Other than the regular research that one puts into a University (e.g. Campus tours, reading the universities website, and reading other past graduates experiences with the program), I have also had the added experience of being able to interact and socialize with a variety of Queens students. I can now say that not only am I impressed by the fact that there are MBA professors teaching Queens Commerce students, but also by the social atmosphere of the school. I had recently gone to a Queens's social gathering and from it I was able to actually experience what it's like to be a student on the campus. All I can say is I absolutely loved it, the people that go to the school are some of the brightest I have talked to, and I was able to keep pace with their conversations as well as relate to many of their activities. For instance a lot of the people I talked to had participated in DECA, and so I was able to share my International DECA experience with them, and was able to hear theirs in turn. So without a doubt the academic value of this program is to be regarded with awe, however for me it is not just about learning but also being able to have fun while learning. After all if I am going to be spending four years as well as a large sum of money, I better be able to enjoy myself, while also receiving a good education, which unfortunately many universities can only offer the latter.

Undergraduate / Chartered Accountant - Schulich School-Business Admin [9]

I'd suggest you talk about some of the things that Schulich offers that other schools dont. (Maybe a co-op placement program? A club or conference sponsored by Schulich? etc.).

Good luck with your application, I was going to apply but the cut off mark is way too high, and the overall feel of the school and its community is just not my type.

Undergraduate / "Don't wait until someone says you are great" ; The Best Advice [4]

You should give some examples of how exactly you followed her advice. (E.g. people thought you were bad at a sport, until you played and showed them). Examples always help to augment essays, and this one especially asks you if you followed it.

Undergraduate / Integrating to Queens community/ Participating in DECA& QEC - My goals for Queens [4]

In an essay of 300 words or fewer (approximately 1950 characters with spaces), write about your goals for your time at Queen's University and beyond. Your answer will be evaluated for content and writing style.

During the four years at my time at Queen's University I hope to integrate myself into the Queens community, while at the same time still be able to bring my unique experiences and skills to the table. My goals while attending Queens, will be to network with industry experts, classmates and professors; while at the same time pursuing my passion for business inside, as well as outside of the classroom. I plan to do this by participating in a variety of clubs and conferences offered by Queens University. For example I am planning to continue my love for DECA. I already have my eyes set on the delegates frosh rep seat, and I hope to only progress from there, working my way up to a co-chair position, so that I will be able to influence, as well as provide assistance to others that share my passion for DECA. I have also always been fascinated by markets such as FOREX and stock markets, and I think that QFac will definitely be something worth looking into for me, as I hope to further improve my knowledge of investing and trading. After working my way up to Swing Manager at McDonalds, I realized that self-employment for myself would be the best course of action, and I plan to prepare myself by participating in QEC, as well as competing in Queens Micro Challenge. After University I hope to have secured some connections from internships and networking, in order to obtain a job; hopefully in the Investment banking sector. This job of course will only be a stepping stone in my goal of having a business that provides me with financial stability, as well as location independence. I believe with the goals I have set my time at Queens will be one to remember.
