Undergraduate / I always wanted to go into the business field. As time passed I was drawn to marketing. [2]

1. Given your NYU campuses of interest - whether they are your primary and alternate home campuses of interest or where you would like to study away while you are a student - where, exactly, would you like to study at NYU - and why?

2. Whether you are undecided or you have a definitive plan of study in mind, what are your academic interests and how do you plan to explore them at NYU?

You may have one or many campuses, schools, colleges, programs, and/or areas of interest, so please elaborate on your interests. Max 500 words.

- I want to know on what I can elaborate. Any type of help is great!

New York City is a place filled with endless possibilities. I was raised not too far from New York City in New Jersey. Ever since I visited New York City as a child I have always been fascinated by the enormous city: from the crowded sidewalks to the endless amount of businesses. I have always looked at NYC as my home away from home. It would be a dream come true to be able to study at NYU, specifically at the New York City campus. New York City is the center location of the world. It is one of the most diverse places to go and explore. I saw it as a place where I could learn something new everyday just as I walk outside.

It is home to the most Global 500 companies; this means a vast amount of opportunities are just around the corner.

Since my freshman year in high school I have always known that I wanted to go into the business field. As time passed I was drawn to marketing. Marketing is one of the most important parts of the business field; it is what keeps the business moving forward. I was attracted to marketing, because I was interested in the main aspects: creativity, teamwork, and thinking globally. As I looked for ways on how I could move forward with my academic interest I found New York University's Stern School of Business. It was an eye opener. Stern has one of the most recognized faculties. Having the opportunity to learn from them will assist me on my never-ending road of improvement. Stern not only assists me educationally, but also in the path of finding my future career. As an undergraduate student I will have the contingency to hold either a part-time job or an internship.

Undergraduate / Center for Career Development - NYU Supplement for Stern [5]

When doing mine I focused more on campuses like the New York City, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi campuses that were given as options in the Common App, not so much as in the college that you want to go into, like Stern.

Undergraduate / Center for Career Development - NYU Supplement for Stern [5]

Growing up in the poorest areas of Shanghai with just my mom, who earned minimal wage, I knew better than most people how important money is and how difficult life can be without it...

I liked that you were able to use specific examples of NYU that would help develop your ambitions.

I, too, am applying to NYU. But if you could what did the prompt ask for?

Undergraduate / Complimenting my personality and professional ambitions - UPENN Supplement Essay [2]

Any feedback would be amazing. I want to know if I stay on topic, and if my reasoning is specific. Thank you.

The Admissions Committee would like to learn why you are a good fit for your undergraduate school choice (College of Arts and Sciences, School of Nursing, The Wharton School, or Penn Engineering). Please tell us about specific academic, service, and/or research opportunities at the University of Pennsylvania that resonate with your background, interests, and goals. (400-650 Words)

As my time as a high school student ran out, and my time as a possible college student came closer I became perturbed of the idea of where I would go to college. I was on a search for business schools that offered a rigorous course of study and would help me improve myself. My search came to an end when I stumbled across the University of Pennsylvania's The Wharton School of Business. Without delay, I started to look into The Wharton School. Everything I read about it drew my heart closer and closer to the school. I felt like I just found my perfect match.

As I have matured I have been able to develop into a person that always looks to excel from past success. I have a drive to always give everything my best work, and to always improve from that benchmark. I see The Wharton School as the perfect school to help me on my journey. Wharton has the resources, for instance their over 225 faculty members, to help me become the leader I want to be, and help me make a difference in the world. Their curriculum will allow me to keep pushing new boundaries in the way I work and think. They are known for their intensive and challenging curriculum. There is no fun in life without a few challenges. That is what I live for; I love being able to face a challenge head on. I strive in being able to surpass that challenge. I know Wharton will be the school that will be able to compliment my personality and my future ambitions. I want to be the best in what I want to do, and I feel the Wharton will help me on that path. I have always been able to learn things more efficiently when I would work with them hands on. Wharton's internship opportunities will allow me to go out and be able to pursue my career.

Not only did Wharton's academics catch my eye, but also their community service projects. During high school I have gone through multiple hardships, and still am; like living paycheck to paycheck, trying to find ways to pay off bills, and balancing work and school. I have come to see how significant and life changing any little thing can be. This has allowed me to see how important community service can be to someone. During high school I have participated in multiple types of volunteering. I don't just want to stop, because I am going off to college. The Civic House caught my eye. This was exactly what I was looking for. Their work for the community through education and community connections is a great way to continue my volunteering even after I go to college. I want to help people who are going through difficulties in their lives, just as I have. Through my experience in community involvement I have come to a realization how important a friendly hand is. The Civic House will assist me in finding different ways of helping the community.

As a result, I have felt that I would be able to fit into the Wharton community with ease. My ambitions in academics and service can be fulfilled with the help of The Wharton School of Business.

Undergraduate / Columbia. The Lion and the Engineer, What could They Possibly Have in Common [2]

....The lion embodies many of the traits I have, albeit at a lesser degree...

....And as my interviewer Barry Weinberg will have noted, I love diversity. There is a stereo type of the title "Engineer"...

I felt that it was really well written. The introductory was humorous, yet insightful about your personality. You were able to give great examples for your reasoning.

Undergraduate / Recount a Failure -- "Always Try" - common app [3]

Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn? 250-650 words

Nelson Mandela once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." During the first two years of my high school education I was capable of putting little effort into my work, and I was still able to manage excelling in my classes. I was so blinded from my simple success that I was in for a rude awakening at the start of my junior year.

During the transition from my freshman year to my sophomore year in high school I changed schools. I enrolled in St. Petersburg Collegiate High School, a high school where I would be able to receive my Associates in Arts degree and my high school degree. During my junior and senior year I would be able to take mainly college courses. When I started my junior year I was still in the mindset that I would be able to accomplish the same grades with the same lack of work.

I started to semester fine; I treated it like any other semester. This semester I would be taking Biology for the first time. I never took it at high school level, so everything that the professor taught was new to me. Although I knew that this would probably be my most challenging class of the semester, I still did not give it my full effort; I would never study after class, I would basically only pay attention to the lecture for that day. After our first test I got a "B", which led me to becoming over-confident. This would be the start of my downfall; my habits would stay unchanged. I did not prepare for my next test, believing I would end up with the same outcome as the previous test. I was given a reality check when our tests were given back. I was in complete awe with my performance. Even though I did horrible on that test, I was still over-confident that I did not need to study for the next test. When I was handed my test back, it was like déjŕ vu. This time I knew I had to change, but it was a too late. I changed my study habits, and put more time into the class. I was able to get an "A" on our last test, but it would not be enough to bring my grade up to the level I wanted.

My lack of responsibility and my sense of hybris led me to my failure. Not only was I not satisfied with my final outcome in the class, but also the final outcome led to more consequences. Since my experience with that class I have changed my mindset in school, and in everything I do. I was able to experience that even success can lead you into two different paths: one being motivation and the other being cocksure. I took the wrong path before, but I am positive that it won't happen again. Even when I am able to have a successful outcome in a class, I always try to improve from my success. I learned something new about myself after that experience; there is no peak to what I can accomplish if I always keep on putting my best efforts.
