@Holt
Yes, I'm really confused with the networking skills. Do you think I can use this essay as a substitute for the Leadership skills? Is there any correction here in case I use this?

Studying abroad is imperative period of anyone's life. It contains lots of exposure, experience and personal development. It has deep effect on students because people from all over the world came at one place having different cultures and different school of thoughts. When they study together they discover new methods of study and research.

It's always been my dream to study in UK because of the following reasons: First, British higher education and qualifications have an impressive international reputation. University of Birmingham is one of the UK's most popular universities for further study. They offer a wide-range programs and facilities that will enhance my expertise in healthcare setting. Moreover, I will be having a privilege to join the academic elite and will have the opportunity to learn from world-leading experts.

The University of Southampton has been rated as one of the world's top 100 universities by the Times Higher Education Table and a founder member of the Russell Group of 24 major research-intensive universities in the UK, with a strong history of translating research into real world solutions. Studying in this university will deepen my knowledge and skills in the field of critical care and it covers core learning in relation to research and evidence based practice.

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) has a rich and diverse heritage and is one of the largest colleges of the University of London. They are also well known for its award-winning facilities and vibrancy. They are focused in developing public health and primary care to build a vibrant inter-professional and interdisciplinary learning community of primary care practitioners who will work together under the guidance of expert tutors to explore how the principles and practice of effective primary health care may be achieved in different countries, health care systems, and local settings.

Coming back to my work place after I gain vast knowledge about the subject will boost my confidence whereupon I can continue my work in healthcare field and work in collaboration with governmental and nongovernmental organizations.

Scholarship / Networking Skills is vital for success - Chevening [5]

Chevening is looking for individuals with strong networking skills, who will engage ...

I believe that having solid networking skills is vital for success and having this skills necessitates superb interpersonal and communication skills.
In the year 2011, when the revolution started in Libya, bombs and natos started to come down regularly in our houses. This war created thousands of casualties. This presented new challenges to us doctors on both sides in the conflict, as we sought to save our patients' lives.

It was exactly that time when I had my duty in Intensive Care Unit in an area which is approximately 70kms away from my hometown. Some of the doctors and nurses on duty began to evacuate, and I was one of the doctors who chose to stay in the hospital. Imagine our situation when there is very few healthcare workers, inadequate amount of medical supplies, and yet hundreds of casualties were brought to the hospital. I was the head of the Triage Team, who determined the urgent cases to non-critical ones, designated tasks to the team, communicated and collaborated with every departments in the hospital, and inter-hospital transfers.

Later on, I volunteered to help in Benghazi, the place most affected by war. I was one of the doctors who encouraged, organized and built a team of healthcare professionals that will provide management to the respondents. I coordinated with the Ministry of Health to seek assistance for medical supplies, manpower, and ambulance. Casualties had to be taken from the field of battle to the places where we, doctors and nurses could treat them. They were collected by stretcher-bearers and moved by a combination of people and cart, and later on by motorized ambulance 'down the line'. Men would be moved until they reached a location where treatment for their specific injury would take place.

With all these experiences, I've learned that seeing the casualties of combat does more than produce war doctors capable of caring for any injury. It has the paradoxical power to create doctors with an extraordinary appreciation for all humanity. I suppose that having this fruitful networking with my fellow healthcare professionals, the ministry, was not just because of interpersonal or communication skills, but because of having this passion beyond the call of duty.

Recently, I am working in International Medical Corps which is a global humanitarian organization, wherein I am a Doctor Supervisor for Sea Rescue Team, Detention Center Team and On-Call Emergency Team that aims to provide disaster relief, deliver health care to underserved regions, build clinics, and train local health care workers with the goal of creating self-reliant and self-sustaining medical services.

Yes, we are `n`ow experiencing chaos in our country however, if be given a chance to be a chevening scholar, it's an assurance that I will be a role model to my Libyan fellows that there is still hope that we can change for the better. I will be very committed and passionate to enrich my networking, capability and knowledge and transfer them to improve Libya.

Scholarship / Leadership, Inspiration to My Team - Universities to Study in UK- Chevening [5]

Hi guys! I wanted to have a chevening award. I need your help for some corrections/suggestions with my answers in the 3 questions. (1 at a time please )

1. Leadership and Influencing skills: Chevening is looking for individuals that will be future leaders or influencers in their home countries. Explain how you meet this requirement, using clear examples of your own leadership and influencing skills to support your answer.

It's always been my passion to be a leader, to influence and motivate others. I believe that a good leader must possess an exemplary character, which means that I have to be trustworthy to lead others. Hence, my first leadership experience was when I led my basketball team during high school tournaments and was awarded as the Most Valuable Player. Later on, I was selected to be one of the national team players in Libya, played as the Team Captain, and was able to compete overseas. Despite the fact that I was studying that time in my chosen field which was Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery, I managed my time, have the flexibility, and stay committed with the team and had the chance to play in Tunisia in my 4th and 5th year in medicine last 2010 &2011, Turkey in the year 2013 and last January 2014, our team competed in Arab Teams in Dubai.

Talking about work experience, I used to work in Libyan Air Ambulance as a Critical Care Doctor. I used to transfer two life-threatening cases alone simultaneously. I was the one responsible to arrange and coordinate with healthcare facilities inside and outside Libya, like Tunisia, Turkey, Malta & Jordan regarding the transport of the patients which gave me a broad horizon on how to deal with stressful situations, to lead a group with enthusiasm and courage.

During my work in Ali Omar Askaar Neuro Hospital as a Senior Doctor in Intensive Care Unit (Adult Critical Care), I was the prime facilitator of the CODE BLUE Team which will respond to patients having cardiopulmonary arrest and in need of immediate medical attention. Last April 2014, I was among the five doctors who were selected to be part of the 10th EMIRATES CRITICAL CARE CONFERENCE held in Dubai.

Recently, I am working as a full time doctor in International Medical Corporations which is a global humanitarian organization that provides disaster relief, delivers health care to underserved regions, builds clinics, etc. At first, I was a Sea Rescue Doctor assigned in Tripoli for one year, then I was promoted to be the Supervisor in all Sea Rescue Team, Detention Center Team & On-Call Emergency Team. I am the one leading all these teams, doing the courtesy calls, monthly & weekly reports, coordinating with NGO's (Non-Governmental Organizations), educating the team as well as the respondents, etc. which has the aim to provide quality health care to all the clients, like immigrants, detainees, refugees and internally displaced people in Libya. I was also chosen to be the representative of IMC during the Symposium about Child Protection, Gender Based Violence, and Project Manager in Tunisia last May 2016.

Furthermore, I want to be the source of inspiration to my team. I always have the confidence to lead and set direction to complete the task well. I am committed to excellence, and maintains high standards, but is also proactive in raising the bars in order to maintain the excellence in all areas of our wo
