Hi guys, I need help with my motivation letter. The prompt is Motivate why you should be selected for this programme. Add this as attachment of maximum 1 page

Dear Admissions Committee,

I humbly write to express my profound interest in studying for a master's degree in Sustainable Drug Discovery. My fascination stems from three main areas: academic goals, clinical experience, and future career aspirations.

Reflecting on my clinical experience, I have dedicatedly worked as a Pharmacist for over four years in Nigeria. A key observation that has contributed to my interest in this MSc is the high burden of antimicrobial resistance in my country. An occurrence that I have frequently encountered is the antibiotic class, Fluoroquinolones, showing poor to zero activity against several Gram-negative bacterial strains, especially Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi. This necessitates urgent action given that antimicrobial resistance deaths are higher in developing countries, including Nigeria, according to the WHO.

One of my primary objectives during this MSc is to strengthen my research skills and knowledge in diverse drug discovery aspects that will enable me to contribute to the development of novel antibiotic classes to combat such antimicrobial resistance and reduce deaths due to them. However, it takes more than drug discovery to achieve this feat. Ensuring the continuous accessibility of these innovative medicines in these developing countries is also crucial as well as slowing the emergence and spread of novel antimicrobial resistance in the environment, hence my enthusiasm for this MSc.

Green chemistry offered at the University of xxx ensures sustainable access to innovative medicines by protecting biodiversity. It lowers harmful waste released during drug synthesis, which is particularly useful since a significant proportion of medicines come from nature. Besides, waste from antibiotic synthesis can fuel antimicrobial resistance if not properly managed, reinforcing my interest in this MSc, particularly in the mobility track encompassing the University of xxx.

My fascination for drug discovery was first developed during my undergraduate degree in Pharmacy, where I experienced a variety of techniques in pharmaceutical sciences. These techniques, include but not limited to phenotypic approach to drug discovery (using whole and isolated animal models to evaluate drug activity), phytochemical and pharmaceutical analysis, and acute toxicity study using rats, as evidenced by my thesis.

Additionally, I was able to effectively manage both the demand of conducting multiple laboratory experiments during my thesis and that of my regular classwork, earning a first class in both semesters of my final year and a distinction in my thesis. I also graduated as Valedictorian , demonstrating my strong understanding of concepts in pharmaceutical sciences encompassing microbiology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology, integral to this MSc. Furthermore, I gained crucial research skills such as the ability to analyze data and communicate my research findings, which I further developed by taking an online course in statistics offered by the University of xxx in 2019.

Aside from Academic excellence, I possess transferable skills that I strongly believe will prove beneficial throughout this MSc, especially for the entire S-DISCO community. I have a heightened sense of responsibility and ability to work proficiently within a team and solve problems in high-pressure settings gained from years of serving in the medical field.

Upon completion of my master's, I plan to take up employment in my Alma mata (University of xxx) to teach both students and active researchers sustainable approaches to exploiting natural sources for drug discovery. After two years of work experience, I aim to pursue a PhD to further contribute to research into novel antibiotic classes.

including Nigeria, according to the WHO.

The reviewer will be doubtful about this. Remove the WHO reference and use actual data from your health department instead. Focus on Nigeria because that is where you will be using the skills you will develop during the masters course.

Paragraph 5 should come before paragraph 3, with a little editing and adjustments to make that discussion flow smoothly as a connected realization on your part. The current 4th paragraph is lacking in strength and information. It can be made stronger by simple editing of the entries in the aforementioned paragraphs.

Paragraph 4 should come in after the current paragraph 7, That way it becomes more relevant in presentation to your academic background and research strengths. Evidence of clinical experience and future career aspirations require more work. I cannot find it in the essay. It should be more obvious to the reviewer
