Hello,
I'm from Brazil and I need to write a letter of motivation for a master's degree in a French university. I have a B2 level of English, and it is not common to write letters of motivation for applications in Brazil, so I'm very insecure about it.
Here it is:
During my prior studies I have figured out that I would like to specialize in International Business, once I enjoyed being part of international negotiations and international trade. I want to work in an international company focused on promote business in a global dimension. In order to pursue this goal, I would like to enroll in a university that emphasizes putting theoretical concepts learned in the classroom into practice with a work-placement.
I have studied International Economic Relations in one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil. The course provided me a critically analyze of the interaction between nations in the contemporary world. It has turned me able to use the theoretical and analytical tools offered by economics and areas such as law, political science, history, geography and demography. Despite the excellent learning I feel that I still don't have the necessary background in economic analysis and finance, both very important in a negotiation. My intention in take a Master in International finance and economics is to deep my personal skills, academic and professional knowledge acquired in my bachelor degree and previous experiences.
My first contact with international relations was a non-paid job. I was a volunteer in an international organization where I could meet people from all over the world. I was responsible for cultural projects focused on bring international culture to local low-income population. This job was the first step to discover how I love being in contact with different cultures and connected me to my first internship, in an International Business Center. There, I have supported the projects of international cooperation sector and helped to promote negotiations between local and foreign industry, aiming international partnerships. I have also worked in the international trade field, supporting the aircrafts imports in an aviation company. Both jobs provided me a self knowledge, a considerable network and, the most important to me, the willingness to learn more about my profession.
Although I have had great opportunities in my country, a experience abroad is highly recommended in this field. France has one of the best education systems in the world and this course is suitable to my personal prospects, offering real life situations analysis, theoretical developments, statistics and econometric approaches that combined with an experience abroad, will enhance my CV and put me in a better position to pursue my goals. Also, with this course I can study more about my monograph subject, which was financing of innovation and the venture capital industry around the world. It is a subject that I have interest besides international business and I can combine both. In addition, I have studied French more than two years, but I don't have a close contact to French speakers. Get in contact with French culture will allow me to learn even faster the language. Therefore, I have decided apply for this master because of what it could offer me in terms of skills' development and cultural immersion.
Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.
