I have two questions.
1) Im filling a CV but what is title?
Please see the picture: i54.tinypic.com/20g1vly.jpg
What should I say to last two rows?
a) Mr. or Mrs.?
b) Mathematician? (then what should I say to High School title?)
c) Title of the program?
2) I wonder if you may comment on especially first 2 paragraphs. I found this website while searching how to write a cover letter. Its for an UN job application which is very important for me. I mostly copied last two paragraphs from a sample letter.
Thanks in advanced.
Dear Hiring Manager for YPP,
I would like to express my interest in statistics position of the young professionals programme. I am very impressed by the significant responsibilities YPP offers and its ample opportunities to excel as an entrepreneurial, achievement-oriented type of person. More importantly to me, UN's philosophy is particularly well suited to my background.
As you will note in my resume, I have majored in Mathematics with full scholarship (since I was in the top 0.1% among 1.6 million students for the university entrance exam). Later on, I got my master degree in Economics from the same school which is a distinguished university in Turkey, Bilkent. In addition, I have two years of school and internship experience abroad in Netherlands on Quantitative Finance.
Through my education, I took courses related to statistics and enjoyed it. As a mathematician, I like to deal with numbers and data rather than theoretical part of mathematics which is why I changed my major into economics. I have gained excellent insights into the world of economics-statistics and strengthened my analytical and quantitative skills. In me, you'll find someone who is unusually dedicated, self-motivated, and who possesses the detail-orientation and technical skills to excel in a fast-paced environment.
Through my experiences and academic background, I have acquired determination, independence, initiative, and the ability to learn quickly and apply that learning proactively. Equipped with interpersonal skills enhanced by education at excellent schools, and bolstered by unique experiences, I am confident that I can contribute significantly to UN.
I would love to start my career in UN, and am confident that I would be a beneficial addition to young professionals programme.
Thanking you most sincerely for your time and consideration.
