To Whom It May Concern:
I'm expressing my interest in applying for the winter semester 2011 for the Master's Degree Program "Russian and East Central European Studies" at the University of Passau. My strong academic background in intercultural communication and my ethnic background (Russia) enables me to make contribution to the University of Passau. I am confident that deeper theoretical and practical knowledges in historical and cultural studies of the Easten European countries will allow me to gain international experience and the Master's degree will become a starting point for my future career.
In July 2010 I graduated from the Chuvash State Pedagogical University with a Master's degree in Linguistics, Translation and the theory of Translation. The focus of my studies was put on learning of the English and German langauges, theoretical and practical phonetics, grammar, translation, history and literature. I also learned diverse topics such as Stylistics and Culture of the Russian language, Ancient languages and cultures, Economy, Philosophy, Politology, Sociology. I am aware that the tuition language at the University of Passau in Master's program "Russian and East Central European Studies" is German and English. In this regard my background in foreign languages will easly allow me take classes in both languages.
During my undergraduate study I decided to further my strong interest in national, religious and cultural identities of Russia and East European countries due to strong ambition to make contribution in studying this Master's program and due to my ethnic identity.
I express my interest in studying this program in Germany, because it is aimed at researching Slavonic studies, East European history, culture, literature and languages such as Czech, Polish, German. I wish to earn a Masters degree in Russian and East Central European Studies at the University of Passau, because of wide international cooperation with Easten European universities, good technical infrastructure, high reputation, high ranking among other universities in Germany, wide range of language offers of study (Czech, Polish, German, Italian, Spanish and other languages), highest scientific level, internationally oriented courses.
