I am writing this motivation letter in relation to my MSc International Horticulture application at the University of XXX for 2020/2021 academic intake. Since my childhood, I have believed that agriculture is an important facet of human life. All human activities largely depend on agriculture but in Ghana agriculture leaves much to be desired, though the country has made some giant strides in that sector. With my background of academic and professional experiences, I am confident that I have what it takes to stand out and excel in this field.

I have selected this program carefully after considering my interest and the various opportunities available after specializing in this field. I graduated with Second-Class Honors (Upper Division) in Agricultural Science with a specialization in Economics and Farm Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. During my Undergraduate study, I had a number of opportunities to serve in various capacities as an intern, research assistant and field assistant on some agricultural projects in Ghana where I gained extensive experience and knowledge.

Currently, I work with the Sustainability Department of Cargill Ghana Limited - Solidaridad West Africa as a Project Assistant. My responsibilities include assisting in monitoring and evaluation of all activities on the field. I am also in charge of keeping records and monitoring demo farm activities. Additionally, I ensure that farmers use eco-friendly ways in the cultivation of their crops. Even though my undergraduate programme has given me a strong foundation in the various fields of Agriculture especially in horticulture and economics, this is not enough for me to be a professional. I deem this program to be the perfect opportunity for me to enrich my knowledge and professional growth to contribute to the development of the horticultural sector in my country.

It is my desire to become an International Horticultural Economist and to work with Agriculturally based organizations which are passionate about improving the horticultural value chain. Studying this program will not only train me academically but also provide me with the analytical skills to assess issues in the horticultural value chain that have implications on local level development from a nation with rich historical, cultural and global environment like Germany. The skills I'll acquire through my studies are going to be a crucial asset in contributing to Ghana's development.

It's ultimately relevant to recognize and appreciate how many elements of this masters' program will provide me with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in my career path. I am enthusiastic a more cosmopolitan university like the University of XXX will be an added advantage for me and will surely grill me to perfection.

To wrap things up, I would like to stress that I am fully determined to make the most out of this opportunity. I trust that being a student at your University would not only empower my career development, but would give me the framework to utilize my full potential.
