Good afternoon.

If you are required to submit these letters the teachers are the ones that are to write them for you, about you. Letters of recommendation are kind of these individuals' "word" or "honor" that you are suitable for the university and/or the course of study. Your instructors should be familiar with these letters and should have no problems writing them for you.

I need help on writing/getting a recommendation letters for college

I don't even know if this thread should go here. It probably fits the student talk part.
Anyways, I am high school junior going on to senior, I am wondering how do people get their recommendation letters, is there any preparation to be done or do you just go up to your teacher/whoever to ask for the letters?

If you want to help the teachers, you can write a list of your accomplishments and describe your plan for the next 5 years.

However, I think kevinshin1124 is right, no worries!!

Sometimes teachers post letters of recommendation here at EF so we can correct their English.

Sometimes I have written letters of recommendation myself and asked people to sign them!! That is dishonest, though...

Yeah, at my school it's like really organized- we have to fill out papers like why we liked their class, what we learned how we would describe ourselves as a student .. etc. just like little paragraphs, but apparently it helps the teachers, and the more info the better the reccomendation i bet!

Yes, imagine being a teacher and having hundreds of students who want letters of rec. Still, it would be nice if teachers had all the info about you already due to their interest in your success.

:-)

Thanks for participating at EF, Taylor...

i found that many of my teachers are very lazy
and of course nobody like to write letter of recommendation
so, in some-cases i was asked by my teachers to write them a 'first draft' of the letter
and when asking teachers for LOR's i offer to do so too...
basically, they have everything that i want them to mention, and it only takes them a few minutes to change it, and add/ take away any parts they want.

a lot of them are even too lazy to edit the 'first draft' i give them.

this is nice because i have letters of recommendation that are great, and mention all the facts i want them too, even from teachers who are too lazy to write them

Excellent! You have a good positive attitude my little Goni; this is a funny post, too.

It seems to me that a teacher should probably have a lot of notes and portfolios for each student, and the school transcript should provide any other necessary info. But it probably makes it easier when students write their own letters of rec.

No teacher accepted my request/invitation? - I need some advice, PLEASE

So the thing is that I am applying to UofChicago and I am asked to submit 2 recommendation letters.
I am an International student, and my first language is not English, even my teachers are not familiar with what is called The Recommendation Letter. No teacher accepted my request/invitation! I am really LOST and utterly do NOT know what to do! Everything in my application is ready except for these letters!

Please suggest something. I need your help, people!

Much thanks~LillyCullen

Okay, I would suggest exploring the internet for samples, You should highlight both good and bad traits of the students and how long you have known them.

Right about what makes the person unique and qualifying for whatever it is their applying for! You're basically selling them!
Good luck! :)

Don't write too much or it will appear insincere. focus on the strongest traits the person has as it applies to what s/he is applying for.

You could write about the student's grades if the student has done well in certain subjects regarding his/her program in post secondary institution and other efforts like activities outside of his/her class.
