Hi,
I am currently working on a paper, 20-25 pages, to focus around the development and usage of the atomic bomb in 1945 and it's effects on the Truman administrations views towards foreign diplomacy as related to the origins of the Cold War.
I am having trouble developing my thesis...
It needs to address these questions:
How did Truman and other top officials (Stimson, Byrnes, Forestall, etc) view the bomb in regards to foreign diplomacy?
How did the bomb play into the origins of the cold war?
Why was the bomb used?
I plan on covering the Manhattan project, Roosevelt to Truman, Secrecy, interactions between the Soviet Union and the U.S. towards WWII end, and Soviet Containment as an idea.
Any feedback on sources and my thesis would be much appreciated! Thanks!
