"Mislabeling Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder"
When good news is bad news many people today tend to be mislabeled wrongly. Schizophrenia, Bipolar or multiple personality disorders which one are you?
People today are somewhat confused on their diagnosis they are given in which there are three comon types of mental disorders manic depression, schizophrenia, and multiple personality disorder, with a known name of dissociate identity disorder. Therefore it seems that the symptoms a person has of bipolar can be similar to the major brain disorders such as schizophrenia or major depression.
There are little known facts that many have stigmatized within the society. Bipolar is a fairly common mental disorder and is well understood that it has alternating moods of mania depression. A Bipolar person with manic mood seems to crash into a depressive mode associated with sadness, lethargy, and feelings of not wanting to be entertained. Doctors usually diagnose mental disorders using guidelines from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM.
On the other hand a person diagnosed with Schizophrenia is less common than a bipolar disorder person. These clients tend to have hallucinations with delusional episodes. When a person is in their manic state they tend to have extreme euphoria or optimism impairing their judgment of their disorder. This is a most common diagnosis given mostly in children. No one person is not always having a manic depressive state nor has characterized schizophrenia.
Anxiety disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and social phobia, also occur among people with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder also known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), having some symptoms that coinsides with bipolar disorder. Example: restlessness and being easily distracted.
In which the diagnosis that are listed above are that of the same as Schizophrenia. Everyone tends to have this label and think they should act out their diagnosis given upon them. I honestly think that everyone is pretending to act out a certain kind of way that are not their norm. You should not label yourself a name that was given and knowing for yourself that you are not this same person. I think it is more of an attention span problem.
Bipolar disorder cannot be currently identified through blood test or a brain scan. You may be referred to a trained mental health professional, or a psychiatrist.
After seeking help from the physician with a diagnosis then you may be placed on certain medications to help with their mental problems. Usually the first med given is a mood stabilizing medications to treat bipolar disorder.
Lithium was the first mood-stabilizing medication given for treatment of mania in the 1970's.
Depakote is another med given for treating mania it is a popular alternative to lithium for bipolar disorder.
Recently the med Lamictal is the most maintenance med for treatment for bipolar disorder. Along with other medications there are Neurontin, Topamax, and Trileptal in which they are depression medications given to individuals.
The medications prescribed are not guaranteed to help the individual for long term. Mostly the individuals are given this medication to help relieve stress. There may be a lot going on but more so of a situation that they may have ongoing for other reasons but tend to act out.
Know person should be given this name and used upon them at any given time. There are other signs that need to be brought upon than to label a person for a sickness they never knew existed. So if this may be the case then maybe we all need to get tested for bipolar and schizophrenia and be placed on medication for an misdiagnosis. But for my point of view I think that it is more of a psychological effect upon people today.
