I'm doing a reliable, valid and ethical research study into the area of Sleep Learning for my Psychology class. I need help, however, identifying an operational hypothesis and the aim of the study. I'm planning on the study having two groups, with 2 female's between the ages of 16-20, and two males aged between 16-20 (in total 8 participants placed in two groups of four) to read through 20 words for 10 minutes each, take a nap of 6 hours where one group will be exposed to a recording of those 20 words being played repeatedly throughout their sleep, and one group that will not be exposed. They will then be retested after the sleep for the memory retention of these 20 words. Someone please help me! (if you could also identify the IV and DV that would be great).
