Hello everyone,
I need a help with the study plan. I made a draft of it, but I still don't have any clue does my study plan already correct or does it out of line. Is my study plan already explain all the points of it?

I am applying KGSP for the Korean Language and Literature majoring in Teaching Korean As a Foreign Language and I will apply through university track. Help me :(

!!!!!!ATTENTION!!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT COPY ANY SINGLE OF MY PARAGRAPHS PLEASE!!!

The main points of the Study Plan: "Goal of study, title or subject of research, and detailed study plan"

Study Plan presentation

I would like to apply for the Master's Degree in Korean Language and Literature department majoring in Teaching Korean As a Foreign Language at the XXX University because I have a high interest in Korean language since I was kid and learning Korean already become my hobby plus I made thesis about Korean Language for my last final project in the university. During my studies, I will spend my spare time to read so many Korean books as much as I can and analyze the grammar structure then let myself fully understand all the grammars. I will make friend with Korean friends to practice my Korean speaking ability. As a human, we do need communication so we need to learn the proper pronunciation of the language so the native speaker could understand what are we going to say. I will also do extra study at least 2 hours a day in order to get good mark in the class and get high score in TOPIK. If there is a possibility, I would gladly participate in Korean Language speaking contest or Korean Language writing contest to prove my ability in Korean Language. I believe that this Master Program will provide me the chance to get to know more about Korean Language and I can achieve my goal to be master in Korean Language both grammatically or speaking ability.

In the master program, I plan to conduct a research about the most effective way of learning Korean Language as a foreigner. As we know Indonesian Language is quite different grammatically with Korean Language so some of them have difficulties of understanding the grammar and the pronunciation as well that's why some of Indonesian think that Korean Language is difficult and doesn't want to study more. In order to help Indonesian to learn Korean Language, I will do research about it more, finding out the similarities in both vocabularies or pronunciation that will help them to learn easier.

I contend that this research will be valuable in the future considering to the issues that most Indonesians have when they learning Korean Language as a foreigner. I hope with this research many foreigners especially Indonesians will understand Korean Language easily and will not think that Korean Language is difficult to study.

elisa, this is not a very strong goal of study, title of study, and detailed study plan. You have to remember that this essay is one of the most deciding factors for the reviewer's consideration of your application. So the voice of undecidedness and uncertainty in your presentation is not going to help. You need to write at least 3 trong paragraphs for each prompt requirement. Let's break the sections down into something you can better understand.

Goal of study: The goal of your study is to better understand how Hangeul works as a language in Korea. By understanding the roots of Hangeul and realizing how Koreans learn their mother tongue, you hope to be able to formulate your own method of being able to help Indonesians learn the language. Then explain why it is imperative that Indonesians learn how to speak Hangeul.

Tiitle of Study: Your title must be self explanatory in concept and have a direct tie-in with your study goals. One title you can use for this could be; "A Definitive Understanding of the History of Hangeul in Relation to Foreign Language Teaching", or something like that.

Study Plan: Consider how your interest in Hangul started and how you learned the language. How have you applied it to everyday life? Will these be considerations in your research? Explain its importance. What method of study will you be using? Discuss the methodology at this point and the facilities, resources, and other research considerations you will require in order to complete this study in Korea and what your expected outcome of this study will be.

What you wrote has some of the elements required above but it is badly presented. I keep telling the students who apply for the KGSP the same thing, this is a thesis proposal. Write it as such.

Hi Elisa,
I fear that only including the title of your research won't be enough. From what I gathered from Holt's posts on KGSP study plans so far is, that it is really important to give a lot of details during your study plan presentation. You need more details, be specific on how you want to conduct your research. For example: Are there two different ways to study Korean grammer/pronunciation and do you want to compare them? How would you determine which way is "more efficient"? How many participants do you need to conduct your study? What kind of results do you expect from your research? Answering these questions would show the KGSP reviewer, that you spend time carefully planning your master thesis and that you have a clear vision on how to conduct the research you aspire to do.

I hope this feedback helps you a little and I wish you the best of luck with your application!
