For me, a successful student requires more than just academic excellence - it demands a proactive mindset that plays a key role in developing other qualities such as self-discipline and resilience, which support students both academically and professionally in their long run.
With the dream of becoming a Screenwriter in the advertising industry, I soon understood the importance of understanding my preferences to my career path. Therefore, I have actively participated in many extracurricular activities relating to creativity during high school. From my initial job of directing cultural events for my school's linguistic department to scripting my clubs' media practices, I have had many chances of improvement by obtaining creative skills and realizing my strength and interest. Thus, I am determined to continue embracing proactiveness in my academic and professional path with the Joint Training Program between Diplomacy Academy of Vietnam and Macquarie University.
From my perspective, being proactive means taking the initiative to seek out learning opportunities beyond the classroom. As a commencing student at the Diplomacy Academy of Vietnam, besides actively studying at school, I understand that true learning extends beyond the boundary of the curriculum. Hence, I plan to participate in extracurricular activities that align with my academic and career interests. In detail, understanding my strength in arts and my interest in culture, I would volunteer in cultural events hosted by the International Communication Department as a member of the Media department. This will allow me to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom, improve my practical skills, and build strong relationships with my peers in the creative industry.
In the rapidly evolving creative industry, versatility is important. As Media and Communication major students, we should proactively equip ourselves with the suitable skillset. For my goal, I plan to learn technical skills: designing, photography, and video editing, and build an impressive portfolio to prepare for the Screen Practice and Production major program in my next 2 years at Macquarie University. During the course, besides learning, I will undertake an internship at an advertising agency as a Screenwriter to equip myself with practical skills and valuable industry experience. I will not only fulfill my assigned tasks but also seek out opportunities to contribute innovative ideas and gain a deeper understanding of the industry's best practices, therefore maximize the learning and growth potential of this internship experience.
After graduation, with a degree in Screen Practice and Production and International Communication skill, I would work as a Screenwriter for international advertising agencies in Sydney before returning to Vietnam. My personal goal after completing this program is to leverage the insights and experiences gained abroad to contribute to Vietnam's flourishing advertising industry. Vietnam's advertising sector, though still young, is dynamic, rapidly evolving, and has the potential to become a key driver of cultural development in the country. I aspire to join an international advertising agency based in Vietnam and apply the innovative strategies, creative practices I have learned abroad and my international interpersonal connection to help Vietnamese creative businesses connect with global audiences and showcase the creativity of local talents.
In conclusion, to become a successful student, I firmly believe that embracing a proactive mindset is essential. By actively seeking out learning opportunities, continuously developing my skills, and taking responsibility for my personal and professional growth, I can position myself for long-term success. I am confident that the transfer program between the Diplomacy Academy Vietnam and Macquarie University will provide me with the perfect environment to cultivate this proactive approach and achieve my academic and career aspirations.
