Hi I need your input on my Chevening post study essay. Thanks in advance!
The direction of the Government of Indonesia (GoI) still places infrastructure development as a national focus for the next few years. Therefore, after having a Master's degree, I will continue my career in the public sector, especially in infrastructure development.
The latest GoI important plan of infrastructure development is to accelerate renewable energy infrastructure development. There must be a reform in current energy-related policies to attract investors to invest in Indonesia to support the acceleration. Knowing this, I will focus my immediate post-study plan to expand my current consultancy practice in my current employer, XXX, to energy infrastructure and help the acceleration plan. Leveraging my network and my knowledge in public policy and public finance, I will manage to take part in this acceleration initiative by advising the relevant stakeholders, such as the state-owned companies, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource, and Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs. This plan is also related to the UK's Indonesia Prosperity Fund Regulatory Reform Programme. The programme's interventions aim to support reforms to the regulatory environment which will increase incentives for domestic and international (including the UK) firms to invest in Indonesia. As a Chevening alumnus, I will support this programme by also collaborating with Regulatory Delivery International, part of the UK's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, which has implemented the programme since 2018. Together, we will support GoI's regulatory reform priorities.
Supported by Chevening global network, I aim to enrich my knowledge by joining the XXXX as a consultant. I will focus on managing and delivering its advisory services, specifically in the infrastructure sector. I will work alongside global infrastructure companies, financial institutions and governments to design and implement solutions, such as enabling public-private partnerships and improving the business environment for capital investment to boost infrastructure development. This experience will allow me to learn end-to-end infrastructure delivery in other countries and bring back the lessons learned to Indonesia.
In the long-term, using my expertise gained from local and international service, I plan to serve as the special staff to the Deputy of XXX under the Coordinating Ministry for XXX. As the special staff, I will directly involve in the policies development related to infrastructure acceleration programme and monitor the policies implementation. I will coordinate other ministries that are important for infrastructure development, such as the Ministry of XXX and Ministry of XXX. Besides, I will also collaborate with the Coordinating Ministry XXX to develop a strategy on how to increase Indonesia's attractiveness to global investors, who hold a vital role in nation-building through infrastructure.
Overall, my Master's degree in the UK will help me develop networks and collaborations that contribute to Indonesia's regulatory reform and infrastructure development agenda. This is in line with the UK's initiative in Indonesia on regulatory reform, that will, in turn, strengthen the UK-Indonesia bilateral relationship.
