I am immersed in digital media and technology firms since I was in high school. I started college majoring in Information technology engineering and got to know in-depth about the power of technology. Benefit from what I learned, I land in the position of Roto artist at X co,. Ltd and intern at X production as a video editor. Technology is a very wide field that helps me apply my knowledge to variety of modern software as well as any technology device. I really enjoy working in digital media field and willing to improve my education to a higher level but unfortunately, there is no course related to it available in my country. It is the main problem why media and filmmaking projects have very low quality compared to other countries and the human resource in this field are so lacking. I am determined to pursue my career as a producer and that require the above knowledge and practical skills which will therefore be critical. From my extensive research, the following three universities I have selected has a very high quality course module in digital media and production. I am confident that any of these universities are well equipped to advance my education in this field.
My first priority university is Birkbeck, University of London. At Birkbeck, I will learn how digital media manage and influence the film and media industries and explore multi-approaches to address media production problems in my country and the region as a whole, through its core module on digital media management. The campus is close to a British museum, where I can explore to understand its culture and history. At Birkbeck, I can access UCL, SOAS and Senate Library. Additionally, the course conducted in the evening which give me times to do more research, volunteer work and attend in other activities during the day. I also will strengthen my critical thinking and analytical skill through systems for media management and reporting module at Goldsmiths, University of London which is my second choice.
Goldsmiths, University of London, has a very unique course and excellent reputation that is stand out for me. Goldsmiths is a very special university because of the way they teach in digital media modules. The best thing about the course is I can get the tasteful theory combined with practical aspect which is not very independently for students. I will have a lot of opportunities to corporate closely with other people. That allows me to build network with them and obtain a set of skills. With the students' union building, I can enjoy my free time and make new friends there through their society and events. Goldsmiths's library is open for 24hour which is very convenient for me to study and do research.
The University of Salford is my third one. With their creative module, I will learn about digital video production and advertising, digital marketing and analysis and e-commerce in a balance practice and theories. I can gain a lot of skills from Dr Alex Connock who is a well-known entrepreneur in digital media. Studying at MediaCityUK that developed by Peel Media will help me to practice my skills of filmmaking production with real-world experience. Salford has the connection with The LADBible channels, Money Supermarket, Auto Trader, AO.com, Missguided, Manchester United FC and other major users of social video which is the best chance for me to collaborate with them. The true student accommodation of Salford has a unique interior design that is very convenient for me to have fun and build connection with other students there.
In my past experiences, I work at X media group, I gain skills by working in the Creative team to visualize art and videos with many brands. These three course are really tied up with my work experiences in digital media firms and very well connected with my academic background in technology. I see myself with no doubt to be able to contribute in media and film production field with the set of technical and theory skills I earn from any of these UK universities. Rather, it would be your "invitation to attend" or "early admission" university. It is important to give equal importance to the 3 universities because you are not sure which univeristy you may be admitted into. Give the reviewers the freedom to choose your university assignment, if you become a shortlist consideration candidate for the scholarship.
There must be a reference to what skills you will be bringing with you into each course that you have chosen. You should avoid using a combined reference at the beginning and at the end for your skills in relation to the courses. It is important that you show your relevant strengths as gained through your undergraduate course or work experiences. Right now, the reviewer cannot differentiate between your skills in relation to the presented choices. It is not only about what you hope to learn and do as a student in the UK, it is also about information sharing with your potential classmates and internship sponsors ( when allowed ).
