my target - a master's program in public finance
I did research on universities in Australia that offer a master's program specification in public finance. I made several correspondences and checked the course content to find the subject I am particularly interested in and in line with my previous study and my career background. I have Associate Degree in Accounting and graduated from Bachelor of Public Administration in Specialization of Public Financial Management and have been working as a financial management staff at Directorate General of Taxation, Ministry of Finance for more than 10 years. I have dealt with budget planning and implementation and the dynamics of financial policies, from financial reform to financial and monetary policy amids Covid-19 in Indonesia.
I am planning to apply for Master of Public Policy in Specialization of Public Finance at Crawford School of Public Policy. It is a leading public policy school in Australia and has strong links with the public service institutions worldwide. It is based at The Australian National University (ANU) which is Australia's top-ranked university and a global leader in fields relevant to public policy. My second option is Master of Public Policy and Management in The University of Melbourne, the premier degree of its kind in Australia which has comprehensive graduate program and expertise across government, politics and international organizations.
The program is two years full-time master by coursework. The compulsory courses including Public Finance: Fiscal Policy, Globalization and Development and Managing Government Finances. These will give me a comprehensive understanding about fiscal policy including tax and expenditure law, and also financial management within a public sector context. As in the future when i am at managerial position, i will have a stronger grasp of management techniques and policy development and implementation skills relevant to a public sector especially on advocating a good systems for emergency response like the pandemic.
