Networking Question - Chevening
In a challenging field a well established Professional networks becomes a main tool to advance our career level , establishing this network over the years had helped me to find guidance , valuable information and resources.
I had established my first network group Through the university and graduation reunion events , Through this meetings I had knew lots of interior designers and architects in different career levels, my first time to reach for this connections was when I had my first freelance medical project I have struggled in some installation requirement on site ,I contacted one of the architect who I was introduced to on one of those reunions, he didn't just give me the information that I needed he kindly offered to visit my construction site to insure that I'm on the right path , since this cooperation we remained in touch and we exchanged lots of data and resources and eventually we worked together , also at the end of this project I made a new connection that I find very helpful whenever I have this kind of projects he is a medical engineer works for sirona a company which provide medical equipment and he also contacted me after to provide him with a construction worker.
In my previous work I was a part of a design office that participate in most of the design and furniture exhibitions , that helped me to make connections with other designers on the field and they provide me with catalogs and information updates that I find helpful in Furniture, fixtures, and equipment selections in various type of project
Also Due the economy changes I found that my connections to companies that provides architecture materials very essential, this connections IS established by approaching them personally in my freelance work and through architects in my current company , by their help we are able to know updates on materials prices which help us to determine our service budget and to make sure we buy them by the best price possible
I believe by being a part of Chevening community I will be able to grow my professional network which I'm planning to maintain through communicating with chevening alumni, that would expand my knowledge and support me to advance my career, and I feel confident that by this journey I will be able to help other designers who want to become a Chevening scholars.
