STUDY PLAN TO IMPROVE FOREIGN LANGUAGES

BEFORE COME TO KOREA
My long-time interest in Korean culture, makes me quite familiar with Korean. Since 2020, I attend a lot of Korean online course at Coursera or online classes held by Korean native speaker. I learn Korean through self-study by taking talk to me in Korean text books which I completed up to level 4. Because of the corona pandemic, I am not be able to take the TOPIK test, but to measure my Korean language skills, I tried to take a placement test at king Sejong institute website with my results being at level 3A, which said that I am able to speak relatively on everyday topics and I am also able to give simple explanation on social or abstract subject matters. Currently, I am taking 5 different Korean beginners to intermediate level course at Coursera. I will finish each course in 3 weeks, so all the course will be finished right before my departure to Korea

As a second language English also play a big role in my life, I am able to speak English both in casual and formal occasion with good pronunciation. however, I lack at the academic writing, but before go to Korea (October - February) I will take an intensive online class for English academic writing and keep improving my English speaking, listening, and reading through self-study.

AFTER IN KOREA
The first goals I want to achieve is to get the TOPIK level 3/4 by the end of the first semester. In addition to formal learning at the language academy, I believe self-study is also very important to achieve the goal. I will focus on learning to improve the grammar structure of my Korean language both through formal education and self-study, learning by text books from talk to me in Korean level 4 above. Increasing vocabulary every day by reading newspapers, magazine, YouTube, or watching tv shows in Korean. To practice intensive listening, accustomed to hearing conversations with Korean either directly when interacting with friends or listening through radio, television and podcasts on a regular basis. Improve sentence structure and be able to identify information in long text. Practice with previous topic questions before the test arrives, and the 2nd goals is to get level 5/6 in the end of the language program.

I also plan to take IELTS test with three months preparation from March 2022 to May 2022 and take the IELTS on July 2022. My goal is to get 7.5/ 8.0 in overall band. To practice listening I will try to getting used to British accent by learning through BBC learning English, listening to BBC news and podcast in British English. For the reading I will practice the skimming and scanning techniques for identifying information in length passage. Therefore, having foreigner friends in Korea with international environment , I am sure I can Improve my English pronunciation and increasing my vocabulary. the least to improve grammar and sentence structure I will learn by english text book and any resources including YouTube and English learning apps.

makes me quite familiar with Korean

Then you should know that the language is officially acknowledged as Hangul, not Korean. Korean refers to the people from Korea. It does not refer to the official language.

at level 3A

Evidence of this certification should be attached. It will be a bit helpful only since only the TOPIK level 5 and above certification is acknowledged as official language rating certification. Better not make any language rating claims at this point based on unofficial sources.

TOPIK level 3/4

Aim for the actual passing level the lst time. There is only 1 chance to retake the test if you fail the first time.

I also plan to take IELTS test

Focus on the TOPIK test since the classes will be taught in Hangul, with only a little English involved.

This whole essay is a bit all over the place and you have a few grammatical errors here and there. There is also a lot of repetition of the same words.

You should try to organize your writing by adding periods of time and bullet points.
For example,
Before coming to Korea
1. January 2020 - September 2021
-I learned Korean through self-study by using 'Talk to me in Korean' textbooks and completed up to level 4.
Also, instead of saying you will take classes only for academic writing, mention that you will take an IELTS course to improve your English and prepare for the test.

In the After Coming to Korea part, you should mention how you will reach your goal of 7.5/8.0 band score. What will you do to prepare for that and how you will keep practicing your English even after staying in a non-English speaking country. You should also mention that you will increase your vocabulary by learning words that relate to your major in both Korean and English.
