Please describe your volunteer/community involvement and/or extracurricular activities over the past five years. (max. 250 words)
At first when I found out about the 40-hour community service requirement for high school, I was not looking forward to completing them. I got started on those hours within the first month of high school as a Student Ambassador in Kids Help Phone just to get them done and over with. What I didn't expect was that I loved it. Learning how to plan presentations and help children in my own community provided me a rewarding feeling. I started to branched out and volunteered in various areas. In 4 years, I volunteered at my doctor's office, The Macaulay Child Development, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Dress for Success, Toronto Western Hospital, and Harbourfront Centre. One of my dreams was to become a doctor and volunteering at the Toronto Western Hospital convinced me so. Guiding individuals coming through the emergency door to see a doctor brings a positive unique look of hope to their faces. I had dealt with many different casualties coming through the door and assisting them to get the help that they need as the position of a greeter and nothing seems to be more satisfying. What I love about Harbourfront is it brings the diversity of Canada and the world. As an activity assistant, I assist individuals by guiding and answering various questions. I was rewarded to be the youngest volunteer to accumulate over 100 hours of volunteering. Through my community involvement, I realize that anybody can make a positive difference anywhere one goes.
PLEASE HELP !! I am terrible at writing English but any little bit of help will be appreciated !:) Thank you so much !
