I am convinced that there are many different types of leadership, and these Leadership types are appropriate for different people and different circumstances, it is very important to know what type we have, so we can use it effectively and be influencers in the society. I am the type of leaders that believe in taking people with me, not just telling them what to do. We work best when we work together in harmony. I believe teams work best when everyone is involved in making decisions.
I had the chance to practice my skills in leading many times during the academic years in the university in defferent projects and Workshops. The graduation project, for instance, was a team work project. They have nominated me to lead because they have always trusted me and believed in my abilities. The biggest challenge was how to understand people skills and what tasks should each one be given. So I made a real effort to ensure that everyone in my team is doing his part effectively. There were some problems and sometimes a different in views but my goal was always to unite the team, because I believe that we'll achieve more that way. Finally, we achieved an excellent result, and our project got the highest score.
In 2011, I lost my father suddenly in a heart attack. And because I am the oldest brother, it became my responsibility to take care of my family. At the beginning, I was shocked and scared; it is not easy to be suddenly in charge of everything. But day after day I kept getting stronger. I did a lot of mistakes but that has resulted in a dramatic improvement in my self-confidence and sense of well-being. Now, I am more than just a relative I am an example and a guide. For instance, my little brother is a seventeen-year old and he idolizes and mimics everything that I do. He looks up to me and notices and believes that everything that I do and say is right and everything else is wrong. For example, he decided to study architecture just like me. In many ways, I am his leader and he is my follower. It is my responsibility to teach him right from wrong if I want him to grow up and make the right decisions.
To conclude, I believe that Leadership is all about having a vision of where you want to be and working to achieve that vision. And the good leader is the one who knows exactly his type of leadership and knows how to invest his skills in achieving his goals.
