Hello friends, please I need help with my essay. I am applying for chevening scholarship, your inputs and corrections will be very helpful thanks.

fine tune my skills

Growing up in the native Nigerian setting afforded me the opportunity to develop keen leadership and influence skills from a very young age. Being the eldest of my four siblings, I was nurtured and groomed by my parents to be a leader and stunning role model to them.

I got my first opportunity to be a leader outside the confines of my home during my first year in medical school. I was elected the class representative tasked with interfacing between my fellow class members and our professors on matter relating to academia and student relations among other things. This broadened my horizon and took my leadership skills notches above where It was. In time,Using refined negotiation and quality leadership skills I had accumulated over five years of tireless representation, I impacted greatly on the lives of my classmates.

It is said that nothing tests our limits more than the loss of a loved one, the death of my father was devastating for the entire family. Then still a student in my defining moments I was suddenly tasked with the enormous responsibility of catering for the emotional and financial needs of the family. In spite of being from a family that thrived on academia with little to no experience in entrepreneurship, I navigated the treacherous financial path laid before me and successfully formulated a business model by which the family still live on till date.

As a medic and a great advocate of preventive medicine and public health, I have initiated and lead countless medical outreach programs to numerous underserved areas in my community. These humanitarian outreach efforts were funded by the government and in some instances NGOs after convincing discussions .

In conclusion leaders create chances to Improve their society and positively influence people towards achieving a better quality of life.
I believe given the opportunity, chevening scholarship will give me the boost needed to further fine tune my leadership and influence skills and ultimately impacting positively on my community and country at large.

Mubarak, the Chevening scholarships do not give any weight to personal leadership and influencing examples. They only consider your ability to lead and influence people in a professional setting. That is mainly because you are applying for a masters degree scholarship in relation to your profession. By proving your leadership and influencing skills in that setting, you will be able to prove that you have a purpose for your masters degree studies and that you are capable of going further in your career because of your abilities to direct specific situations to your benefit or benefit of the project. In your current essay, the only part that you can perhaps develop into something similar to what the requirements need is located somewhere within your profession as a medic. You can use the outreach programs in this instance because that is directly related to your line of work. Develop your essay around that profession and leadership / influencing capacity because that is the only part of the essay that works in relation to the prompt requirements. Review the requirements again before you write the new version of your response. You should be able to figure out how to draft your new content based upon the prompt requirements.
