Hi, I've written this for a Portfolio to be considered for scholarships and I'm worried/ having trouble with coming up with smooth transitions of one subject to the next. If someone could please read my SOP and give me their opinion of it, suggestions? errors? I really REALLY want to be able to go to this class and a scholarship could help out tremendouly.

In the society we live in today, people are lead and encouraged to think, create, and believe in the conventional. The issue with this is not the ineffective nature of conventional thinking, but the lack of progression it promotes. When searching for a school that could offer the skills needed to develop my future career, I was absolutely stunned to discover such a unique, diverse, and wonderfully unconventional school that is the Savannah College of Art and Design. The commitment to academic excellence and dedication to help students reach their goals while and pulling off an artistically distinct style helps me strongly believe that this is the school for me.
Normally this would be the part where I would be expected to elaborate on each of the three qualities mentioned in the paragraph above (in order) followed by a restated conclusion, however in an attempt to take the road less traveled I will instead introduce myself to this school differently.
In addition to being unconventional I also enjoy celebrating and embracing diversity which initially attracted me to SCAD. Through being an active member of my high school's International Club, which is designed to promote and encourage ethnic and cultural diversity, I developed a great interest in traveling and experiencing different cultures. I believe that it is important for people of different backgrounds to be able to find common ground with each other and to exchange new ideas with one another to develop a strong bond in the international community. As a student of SCAD, I would eagerly take advantage of the many travel abroad programs offered.
I also feel confident in my ability to succeed academically at SCAD based on my previous success in high school. As an honor graduate in the top ten percent of my class, I have garnered several merit-based awards and honors, including becoming a National Honor Society member and a University of Georgia 2010 Merit Scholar. I was also successful in completing three AP courses and was nominated for the Governor's Honors program.
Striving for the best I take my academics seriously, however as I begin my journey of establishing my future career life, I realize the importance of pursuing what you love to do. For recreation I enjoy reading novels, writing my own stories, and watching films of different genres. I also enjoy computer technology and have familiarized myself with the basics of programming through electives.
These oddly paired interest blend together to create a unconventional love for Computer Animation and Animated films. I believe that Animation, the major I intend to pursue, is the perfect combination of art, storytelling, and technology working together in complete harmony. With connections to animation studios such as Pixar and DreamWorks, I know that SCAD could aid me in securing a career in this amazing field.
After visiting SCAD Atlanta I can my conclusion about SCAD is that it was practically made for individuals with ideas and creativity that exceeds the boundaries of ordinary thoughts. I have literally fallen in love with this school which is unlike any other. I am confident that I will not only fit right at SCAD but also be successful and an excellent addition to the student-body.
