Hi I have 5 questions to answer for my scholarship application.. I am posting the replies with the questions here.. Could someone give their feedback on the same? I'd really appreciate some help..
Question 1: Please state why you believe that you should be considered for the Cardiff University International Scholarships
There are 3 reasons that make me believe I could be considered for the scholarship
1. Consistent: Reverse chronologically right from my masters till my school days, I have shown consistent performance in my academics and have always stayed among the top 10 students in the class.
2. Resolute: I have always believed that there is nothing more promising than a good education. It's a belief that my parents have instilled in me right from when I was a kid and has truly been a vital part of my life till date. I am here right now, trying to enlighten myself on a business front and strengthen my skills on the same.
3. Focused: I have made goal-specific career options so far that helped me equip myself reasonably. I have always wanted to stand out and make a difference.
Question 2: Please demonstrate any notable academic success or other significant personal achievements
My academic successes can be summarized and listed as follows:
1. Distinction in Masters Dissertation
2. In my undergraduate course, been among the top 10 in my class academically. Scored S grade (Highest grade) in all my Mathematics papers for 5 semesters
3. Published my final year undergraduate dissertation as a paper in IJCSIS journal
4. Completed online Gamification course from Coursera with 96.05%
5. Scored 92.18% and 91.5% in my 10th and 12th public exams respectively.
6. Was awarded Rs.1500/- from the Teacher's Association, Pondicherry for obtaining grades above 90% in 12th standard
7. General Proficiency award holder for consecutive 12 years at school
8. In the 3rd National IT Aptitude Test, ranked among the top 16% in my zone and among the top 18% across the country.
Some of my personal Achievements other than academics include the following:
1. Completed till Grade 3 Trinity exam of Music (Practical) with an average of 80% and above in each grade and completed grade 2 (Theory) with full marks.
2. Participated in school level quiz competitions and won awards
3. Best Student Award from the Pondicherry School of Arts
4. Taken part in social awareness programs at school level including being a part of Haemophilia Awareness and Fund Raising program and the fund raising program for St. Louis Orchestra of the blind
5. Attended training programs on Leadership during the final year of undergraduate course
6. Undertaken formal yoga training for good physical and mental health
Question 3: Please outline how this scholarship will assist you in the future.
Making my step forward from a middle class family, I would like to take up complete responsibility for the finance part of my studies. I would like to do it debt-free and independently. Obtaining a scholarship would also enable me to completely focus on my career goals and work on them fervently. I could use the time I would be saving from paying back my loans in other productive and knowledge filling activities during and after my course. I also see this as an opportunity to enhance merit to my profile for my future endeavours. And in addition to all the above points, I would see winning the scholarship as a self-confidence booster. I have managed to come so far depending on my parents but now I would like to build my own nest with the resources I deserve and earn. This scholarship could lay the foundation for my perceived career path.
Question 4: Please demonstrate your awareness of the contribution that you can make to the development of your community, society or nation as a result of obtaining your Cardiff University qualification
As Guy Kawasaki says it, "The best reason to start an organization is to make meaning - to create a product or service to make the world a better place". I would like to make some meaning to my life and to the people around me. I deeply believe this Masters course would complement my existing core subject skills and help me attain my goals.
My late grandfather always used to remind me of this famous quote in my country, Work is Worship. I would love to create jobs, start an organization and create an environment wherein people would work just for the sake they love what they are doing. I have always been inspired by the thought that human productivity is all about taking one good and turning it into another good. I trust this course would lay the path for me to create a positive impact on my society.
Question 5: Please outline how you would represent Cardiff University in your future education or career
I have been inculcated of this moral, right from when I was about 3 years old - "Matha, Pitha, Guru, Deivam" (In Sanskrit; The English translation for it - "Mother, Father, Teacher, God") which means a teacher/school plays a vital role in understanding your true inner self which is referred to as God in the quote. I had the privilege of going to reputed schools at my place and I have always acknowledged their roles in my lives. And I thoroughly foresee my future here at Cardiff given the erudite faculty and the academic ambience. I shall always be grateful to what Cardiff would have offered, and would always come forward to represent the university at any and all possible ways, at any and all times. I assure to be a professional representative of the Cardiff University and spread its worth at my town, at all my previous schools and in all my future endeavours as well.
