How will the proposed study contribute to your career*?
I am serving as Deputy Director Audit in the Department of Auditor General of Pakistan (DAGP). Masters of Business Information System will provide with the skills necessary for implementation of modern information and communication technology (ICT) tools in my department. This will make a huge difference in terms of efficiency and transparency.
As per the strategic plan 2015-19 of the DAGP, department has been striving to introduce modern audit techniques and technologies. The procurement of Audit Management Information System (AMIS) was planned under USAID funded Project (PIFRA) but that initiative could not materialize. The same can be procured through World Bank or developed in near future followed by user training at all levels. This course will equip me with the most needed skills to develop and Implement AMIS in my department. Our department do not have the in house capacity to develop information system and this program will give a chance to serve my department at pivotal positions.
Secondly, DAGP has introduced IS audit in the backdrop of increased application of ICT in government departments. Master of business information systems will hone my skills to work as government IS Auditor. In near future, the government will have to establish a new wing for IS Audit as it is being practiced in Australia and other developed states. This degree will make me the most suitable candidate to man this position also.
The proposed study will equip me to perform better not only at mid-career level positions but also later in my career when I would be serving at decision-making positions. The decision-making levels in my service may be, inter alia, member finance (CFO) in federal ministries, divisions, government corporations and quasi government organizations and Director General Audit in field audit offices.
Finally, on assuming the top leadership role, the knowledge gained through this will help in making better policies and plans to accomplish our vision and mission.
