I am writing this letter to express my interest to apply for the award of the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals KFUPM, MSc Scholarship in "Chemistry" with specialization in "Organic Chemistry". I wish in particular to be trained at an advanced level in Natural Product Chemistry. My ultimate goal is to become an expert researcher in Plant drug discovery. I believe that as a Masters student at KFUPM, I can benefit from the numerous challenging career opportunities and give me the framework to utilize my full potentials.

Having enjoyed doing chemistry and biology right since high school, I succeeded and continued my academic career with the study of "Pharmacy" with passion in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Through my years of studying, I became fascinated with the research field in Organic Chemistry and how to apply these knowledges to the discovery of new molecules with biological activity from plant. For this reason, I joined research groups and participated in different research projects under this research line. Between the projects I worked in this group, was my bachelor thesis titled " Phytochemical screening and antidiebetic properties of Ipoema asarifolia REULTS & SCHUM " The results of my study was selected as the best final year student research presentation during my year of graduation at the faculty of Pharmacy. Am currently working on "Isolation, Purification & characterization of flavo-stilbenoids from Gnetum africanum. Assessment of antioxidant and anticancer activity".

This positive drive made me part of the TReND/ISN summer school on insect neuroscience and Drosophila neurogenetics. Through this school, I expanded my skill set to include use of fruit fly model in screening of medicinal plant as the development of novel translational research technologies and approaches which is of central importance for successful complementary and alternative (CAM) research and medicinal chemistry optimization.

These mold me to have considerable expertise in the isolation, purification, synthesis, design, formulation, and characterization of plant drug molecules, identifying potential red flags and/or improving existing molecules, as well as coordinating testing of their biological activity

I will like to work and explore at KUFM, Plant drug discovery, using medicinal and organic chemistry applications.
Following a successful taught masters, the acquired knowledge, the improved experimental skills will be actively engaged in the research of potential leads and mentoring/training younger generations and becoming a distinguish academia at the doctoral level.

To pursue a successful personal career in this field has been my aspiration. My career goals are to develop myself into a leading expert in plant drug discovery and development, pushing at the global frontier of research and teaching, equipped with the essential skills. Also, transforming my passion about international development into fruition by contributing to solving some of the world pressing problems informed by contemporary research and responsive to the changing nature of medicinal chemistry.

I am confident that overall opportunity to study in KSA will broaden my horizons and give me an opportunity to gain world class education and also learning the Arabic language fluently.

@ahy071 This essay is not focused on your research plans and career goal. Rather it focuses on your background in terms of research interests and research skills. That is not the focal point of this essay. You should be explaining instead what your masters course of research will be about and why. What are your more advanced research interests as influenced by your current professional experience? Does this tie in with your college thesis? If so, explain the continuing research aspect. If not, then do not bother to explain your college thesis so that can focus on developing the interest of the reader in your future research plans.

The future research plans need to tie in with your professional goals. That means, your academic interests and points of research should address a specific situation that requires a solution or additional research in order to help deal with the situation or understand the situation better. It needs to have a real time application to your profession so that the reviewer can consider this a proper career goal oriented research essay.
