I decided to pursue a master's degree in Sweden which prioritizes real world problems. Swedish universities has emphasis on developing the ability to question the status quo by assessing information, seeking new perspectives and coming up with well-informed opinions, the informal and non-hierarchical nature of Swedish society, where everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas and opinions will help me think innovatively. Sweden's higher education system has the world's most coveted and prestigious academic distinction according to The Times Higher Education, which motivated me to apply. The important characteristic that I will need for success in my career is creativity which is exactly I intend to evolve while studying in Sweden, along with other in-demand skills such as how combining theory and practice, and how to navigate complex situations where there's no easy solution these techniques are well vexed with the courses that Swedish universities offer.
The Electric Power Engineering programme offered by KTH that focus on power system dynamics, stability and control, as well as on electricity markets that partners with ABB drew my interest towards the university, involving with the PSSC (power system stability and control) Research Group which develops techniques that will impact today's operating power reliability and transmission efficiency will help me reach my goal of providing reliable power supply to densely populated countries. I would also like to study Information and Control Systems courses focusing on automation, operation, and control of electrical drives and industrial control which will provide a strong boost to my career prospects.
With the knowledge I gain from the academia at KTH and the network I develop with the industries will help me in future to conduct research on development of renewable energy integration, reducing transmission losses and improving grid stability for heavily populated countries such as my home country in order to overcome the energy situation that cripples its economy.
