Hello, I would be very grateful if you would kindly review my personal statement and give me necessary advice regarding it.
Thank you.
The essay should include the following things:
Motivations with which you apply for this program
- Family and Education background
- Significant experiences you have had; risks you have taken and achievements you have made, persons or events that have had a significant influence on you
- Extracurricular activities such as club activities, community service activities or work experiences
- If applicable, describe awards you have received, publications you have made, or skills you have acquired, etc.
2010, when a friend of my aunt visited us for the first time, I was in awe. It was neither her beauty nor attire that mesmerized me but her qualification and profession.
After completing her studies and achieving PhD, she is now a professor who travels to various countries and gives lecture in some of the prestigious universities. From then on I was determined, should I ever choose a career path; that would be to become a professor just like her.
The first step toward achieving my dream is to gain my higher education degrees from universities of abroad. But as a child from a low income family, unless I was awarded with a scholarship, it would be far more difficult for me to follow my dreams. So, while searching and evaluating my available opportunities; my journey toward achieving GKS begun.
From the time of kindergarten, I have always been an average student. Though I have participated in many, apart from winning one sports competition in 8th grade, I have no notable awards. But one competition that played a significant role in shaping my future education and career path.
In 2015, I participated in a group business plan competition. Though my part was developing the marketing plan, I was most intrigued by the finance and accounting part. Planning, budgeting, reinvesting, analyzing the revenue and expenses, developing further business strategies, maximization of profit and wealth, investment, financial planning, financial analysis; all these concepts were far more interesting to me. That is when I decided to pursue my career in the finance and accounting field. In the same year, I started my ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
In 2018, I started my BBA with finance major. To do BBA and ACCA together helps me to gain academic knowledge in both finance and accounting. Now my target is to do my masters in accounting to further advance toward my goal of becoming an accounting professor.
In 2019, I got my first job as an instructor of a basic computer course at a co-operative organization for women, 'Bangladesh Mohila Shamiti'. Though it was only for one month, the experience there was invaluable to me. After the class, I used to explain various accounting concepts and solve problems of high school students who were struggling with their accounting school works and asked for my help. I enjoyed that time tremendously and was further determined to become an accounting professor.
GKS was one of the few scholarships that provide my field of study along with impressive scholarship benefits. After learning about GKS, I started learning more about South Korea, its culture and high quality education.
The learning environment in South Korea is ranked very advanced in Asia. South Korea places emphasis on knowledge, nurturing and training future talents. Studying my master's in accounting in South Korea will help me gaining hands-on experiences besides theory through detailed knowledge of the subject, comprehensive exams and solving cases of various real life scenarios. With the help of GKS, I would be able to attain this benefit of world-class education that would be impossible to afford by myself.
Thank you.
