I have been working on this essay for about two weeks or so. I'm very picky, and tend to overthink when writing something important.

Here are the guidelines for my essay:
-500 words
-Double spaced( I have not double spaced this draft yet)
-Describe what you know about the Radiologic Technologist profession at this point in time
-Describe why you want to become a Radiologic Technologist
-Discuss how you plan to use your Radiologic certificate
-Explain your plan for successfully completing this program

When I was eight years old, I knew I was meant to work as a healthcare professional. I have been asked 'why this profession?' and 'why this field?' After going deep into thought, I could only come up with one answer-I don't know, but I know it's the only occupation I have ever wanted to do. It could have something to do with understanding the human body and how it works, or how I hold the ability to connect with people on a compassionate and empathetic level. When it comes down to it however, I know deep down in my heart that I am extremely passionate about medicine and its technology. I know I want to be a Radiologic Technologist.

Between the years 2012 and 2022, the employment rates are expected to grow by twenty-one percent due to the increase in the aging populations. Radiologic technologists will be expected to become familiar with computed tomography, magnetic renascence imaging, and mammography to satisfy the requirements of specific diagnostic imaging equipment; and to produce quality images which are required to diagnose and treat patients.

In 2013, I started working as a caregiver to obtain more experience in the healthcare field. As a caregiver, our number one priority is patient safety. My duties included companionship, transportation, medication reminders and light housekeeping. When I cared for my most visited patient, she gave me a new perspective on elderly people. I learned a copious amount of information about direct care and one on one time with her. My patients' daughter found me to be such a positive asset in her mother's life; she employed me to care for her mother until she passed away in May 2014.

I fully believe that if a person sets their mind on something, anything can be achieved. By studying every night up to three hours, having determination, self-discipline, being detailed oriented, and organized, I successfully pass challenging courses with both A's and B's and raise my GPA every semester. At this point in time, my GPA is sitting at a 3.13. I manage to balance my full time job working at Northern Arizona Radiology while attending classes at both Coconino Community College and Yavapai College. By applying the same routine to the Radiology program, I believe I will succeed and complete the program with outstanding grades, and will graduate with all the required knowledge and more from experience. I have made the decision to not work while enrolled in this program to ensure all my energy and attentiveness is solely focused on this program.

Upon completion of the program, I plan on enjoying my career as a radiologic technologist in a hospital, imaging, or clinic environment. During my time as a radiologic technologist, I plan to use my certificate to apply for a Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Imaging and Therapy to further my education and to obtain more skills and information. This will give me the opportunity to apply my knowledge as a Radiologic technologist into this specific program.

This is my first time giving feed back so I hope it is useful to you. I believe your essay only needs minor improvements. You answered the questions directly and with detail which will be impressive. However, for the first paragraph perhaps stating "I don't know" is not the best route. I myself have trouble defining why I am interested in a subject, nevertheless, you do point out a couple of reasons. Maybe stating that there is no "one" reason, but a combination of these reasons which draw you to the field. By having multiple components to your answer you demonstrate yourself to be both capable of the mechanical and human elements of your desired career. I know with the word limit it is hard to add detail, but in paragraph two when you state "she gave me a new perspective on elderly people." it would be beneficial to your reader to know what that perspective was. By stating personal growth you prove to be self-reflective, an admirable trait.
